Our Sacred Vessel We often hear the adage that “we are Spiritual Beings having a Physical experience”. Spiritual, implying non-corporeal and rarified energy and physical being that state of manifest densest layer of existence. The mysteries of the Sacred Vessel are those things crafted and etched in the time of our own making. The intricate weaving and painting that defines this vessel as our own; unique and rare in all of its states of being. This vessel has moved through time and seen the rise and fall of our basest and highest nature. It has changed its alchemical form and weathered the extremes of expansion and contraction, remaining pliable and…

SpellCrafting: Spells & Rituals for Witches
Croning: Wisdom Merry meet! This month is the fourth of a six-part series on croning – a feminine rite-of-passage ritual for those reclaiming the power and wisdom of the old woman, the crone. I hope it prompts you to reflect on your life and the wisdom you have to share. While the crone is a symbol of death, she also symbolizes wisdom and power. Fifty years or more of living brings the inherent wisdom that comes with experience. She has birthed and buried, laughed and cried, danced and crawled, succeeded and struggled. She has seen Saturn return twice, and with it, a host of lessons. Her life has demanded patience,…

We are all Worth Catching
Celestial Meanings It’s in the night sky safe in the clouds with the stars standing guard sending out illumination while also showcasing shadows Some of the darkest alley ways and the long step staircases include thoughts seeped in quicksand and dodging of punches The aroma of that certain scent lingers in and around a grave site While the whole infinity of time causes this present to remain still The vibration raises and it’s felt around those that surround in the now in the then and in the will be When it comes down to it the ones that remember the glow over the bleak moments remember the stars as not…

Thriftcrafting: Witching on a Budget
Vision Boards Merry meet. The more senses we involve in magical work, the more powerful spells become. I have made frequent use of vision boards to illustrate what I was inspired to manifest. I flip through magazines (Oprah and Yoga Journal are two of my favorites.), old calendars and books for pictures and words that grab me. If you don’t have a stash, look at tag sales and used book fairs held at local libraries. I have gotten old issues from my gym that were being thrown away, from co-workers and by helping myself to a bag of magazines put in the recycling bin at my condo. I try to…

Tarot Talk
This month, we will move back to the Major Arcana, and since the Solstice has just passed and we are into Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, let’s talk about The Sun. First, we should quickly define and describe some terms. There are 22 Major Arcana cards in a Tarot deck, with numbers from 0 to 21; the Majors usually deal with broader and more far-reaching life experience issues, archetypes that are easy for us to identify with and connect with at some point in our lives. An archetype (pronounced “ark eh type”) is a generic, idealized model of a person, an object, or a concept which can be copied, patterned,…

Mid-Year Resolutions! December 31st marks the last day of any calendar year and we bring all the accumulated lessons, joys and sorrows of that year with us as we cross the threshold into a new beginning- the first day of a new year. For many, this self-initiated new start is welcomed by the making of carefully and thoughtfully chosen “resolutions”. And, just as many, often find that by the end of that cyclic year, those resolutions have fallen by the wayside, replaced by regrets or excuses for not having accomplished what we had set out to. What I would like to offer is a new way of looking at this…

Musings of a Hereditary Witch
The Sea Witch When I think of the Sea Witch, I see her standing upon high cliffs, arms upraised as she harnesses the power from the waves crashing against the rocks below. Sometimes I see her walking barefoot along the beach whispering words of magic while the light of a full moon casts a soft glow around her. She makes use of the things cast up by the sea; shells, hag stones, glass fishing floats, hooks, rope, sea glass, fishing net, driftwood, sea weed, bird feathers, as well as using sand and sea. Her magic is tied to the tides, the moon, fog, storms and the bright sun. She controls…

Astro Report for June 2015
Astro Report for June 2015 Mercury still Retrograde in Gemini – 8 degrees Monday, June 1, 2015 – 12:01 am EDT Goes Direct on Thursday, June 11, 2015 – 10:51 pm EDT The Planet of Communication enters the Sign of Communication… Hmmm… Interesting how conversations go from subject to subject. It’s a wonder how each segues into the next. And while you’re talking, be wary of what you say about others not part of the conversation. Gossip can bite you in the end. However, when Mercury goes Retrograde, conversations can definitely be uncontrolled. The proverbial foot fits in the proverbial mouth too often. Mercury goes direct later this month. …
