Book Review – The Little Book of Saturn by Aliza Einhorn

Book Review The Little Book of Saturn Astrological Gifts, Challenges, and Returns by Aliza Einhorn Even those who don’t know a lot about astrology cringe when Saturn is mentioned. Often thought of as bringing bad luck, challenges, loss and constriction, it has been called the Greater Malefic. What Aliza Einhorn does for us in her wonderful book is to show us Saturn as an ally and a teacher, the cosmic alarm clock that tells you to “wake up! Get up…don’t be late.” Don’t miss this opportunity to find out what you need to do to become true to yourself! Saturn will point out where we have strayed from the cosmic…

Beating the January Blues: Excerpts from Every Day Magic Edited by Lucya Starza

January blues refers to that unsettled and unhappy feeling after the holidays are over. The joy and excitement have come and gone, and now there is nothing to look forward to. Of course, Imbolc isn’t so far away, so as a Pagan it’s probably a bit easier to cope with! But winter depression and SAD can affect anyone, so it’s important to keep an eye on your mood at this time of year and try and do something positive if you feel yourself becoming anxious or feeling low. Here are some excerpts from a book I contributed to which has magical tasks for every day of the year. Every Day…

Review of Ritual Bath Salt by Nuit Apothecary on Etsy

Ostara Ritual Bath Salts by Nuit Apothecary on Etsy I received Ostara Ritual Bath Salts by Nuit Apothecary. It came nicely packaged in a black bag, with a pretty label explaining what it was. It’s made with Dead Sea salt, Epsom salt, prairie lily, red clover and essential oils. As someone who adores taking hot baths, I was looking forward to trying this salt out. I ran the tub and sprinkled some in. It had a nice scent and the salts dissolved well in the hot water. There were plenty of herbs floating around in the tub. The scent was not as strong as I would have liked and what…

Book Review – Working Conjure: A Guide to Hoodoo Folk Magic by Hoodoo Sen Moise

Book Review Working Conjure A Guide to Hoodoo Folk Magic By Hoodoo Sen Moise Due to the fact that, in all honesty, I say I know absolutely nothing about Hoodoo, I was pleased to see that the first chapter was entitled, “What is Conjure/Hoodoo?” The author explains the when, where, how and proceeds to tell us of Hoodoo’s principles in chapter 2. I love the explanation of how “Conjure was birthed out of a need to overcome the oppression of slavery. It was a way for the slaves to turn the tide against the slave masters and take back, at least in some way, what had been taken from them.”…

The Wiccan Path Happy New Year Everyone! This year, 2019 is a number “3” year (add 2+0+1+9=12/ 1+2 =3); a year of change and creation. Three is the number of trinity’s harmony. From the relationship and collaboration of two a third is created; the totality of its sum of parts. This may take the form of fulfilling and creating what you desire most, creating a new passion fueled by a latent wish, putting into action what you’ve been yearning to do as you create the product of those efforts. In keeping with this creative approach I am revisiting and sharing the online course I wrote in 2014, to serve as…

    GoodGod!

Meet the Gods: The Wise Men Merry meet. This month’s column is not about gods. Rather it’s about saints, or, more correctly, magi, the pagan astrologers who came to worship Jesus. The word magic came from magi because they dabbled in the dark arts and were referred to as sorcerers, wizards and magicians. Tradition refers to three wise men, but nowhere is a specific number stated; in Eastern Christianity often there are twelve. They came “from the east,” which most likely is now Iran. That means they could have traveled more than 800 miles. The Christmas story has them arriving twelve days later, but some traditions have the visit occurring…

    Retha’s Crystal Reflections

“Super Seven & Auralite Twenty-Three: All You’ve Ever Wanted to Know” Hi everyone and Happy New Year!! I want to start off this year telling you a bit about both super seven and auralite twenty-three. These are two of my very favorite crystals because for one they are absolutely stunning, and secondly they are the ultimate multi-taskers as they contain many minerals in both and therefore contain the properties of all the included minerals! How cool is that?! You can wear just one piece of jewelry and gain the metaphysical benefits of all the minerals you need! And to me the patterns and variety of colors included are so very…

    Going Back to My Roots

(Roots by Frida Kahlo)   “Be like a tree. Stay grounded. Connect with your roots. Turn over a new leaf. Bend before you break. Enjoy your unique natural beauty. Keep growing.” -Joanne Rapits   I’ve been going through major internal shifts in the last year. Recently, I’ve been making some changes in my life that are shaking up relationships with people I love. Some of these patterns are co-dependent and that is a no-go for me. When I read this quote by Victor Hugo, I realized that I have a changeable mind and ways of being that used to work for me in those relationships stop working as my thinking…
