Book Review – Wicca, Plain & Simple: The Only Book You’ll Ever Need by Leanna Greenaway
The cover states that the book is plain and simple and, also, the only book you’ll ever need. The forward of the book was written by Judika Illes, who is, also, an author and I quite liked it. The first chapter informs the reader about Witches and magic. She touches on the different types of Witches like Hedge, Traditional, Gardnerian, etc. It’s nice because she just does a quick little description of each, but it’s enough to give the reader a good idea of the differences between them. After that, she mentions Covens and how they were formed when Wiccans were persecuted so they had to worship in secret. Then…

Notes from the Apothecary
Notes from the Apothecary: Tulips As the earth in the Northern Hemisphere warms between the Spring Equinox and Beltane, we can look forward to seeing the world painted with the vivid colours of the spring flowers. It’s hard for me to pick a favourite as I love so many, but tulips are definitely close to my heart. I grew black ones when I was in my goth phase. I’ve had deep, blood coloured ones, and scarlet ones winking red-eyed at the sky. I’ve had yellow ones vying with the daffodils for the brightest frock contest. They are glossy, bold and brash… and I love them. The Kitchen Garden Tulips aren’t…

WitchCrafting: Crafts for Witches
There be Dragons Merry meet. When I fell in love with a Dragon’s Eye I’d seen on Pinterest, I felt I was lacking the talent and the tools to make one. Blessed be my artist friend Kerry Bower who likes to work with her dragon energy. This is how she made them. Start to finish, you can finish one in about two hours, including baking time and cooling. Gather Supplies: Polymer clay (one small brick can make two eyes) Polymer clay tools Glass cabochons (the size of a quarter, found at dollar stores) Multi-surface paint Acrylic paint (or clay in the colors you desire) Small detail brush Oven Shape a…

The Bad Witch’s Guide
The Bad Witch’s Guide to Pagan Moot Etiquette (Photo by Tim Gouw on Unsplash) I am a bad witch. There are a long list of reasons why I am a bad witch. Having been out of the broom closet for some considerable number of years I would on occasion get asked “but you’re a good witch though?” My response to that depending on the person asking but I found I started to say “yes, a very, very good witch” rather darkly as it usually got the point across. I can only say in this piece my hexperience in British meetings and moots. I go through phases of being…

Review: Council of Light – How to do Toe Readings Webinar with Katherine Veltri
Review: Council of Light – Toe Reading: How to do Toe Readings Webinar Reading Your Soul Through Your Soles with Katherine Veltri Before I started this course, I had never even heard of toe-reading. It was pure intrigue that led me to choose the course, as I’m always open to learning new things. That said, I was a tiny bit skeptical, as I felt it would be perhaps just a transplantation of ‘palm reading’ onto the feet, or something along those lines. I’m pleased to say I was wrong, and that the skill of toe reading stands alone as a therapy quite in its own right. I was…

Finding Your Own Way
Chapter One in Our New Serialization… Basic Relaxation Techniques Relax! A certain amount of tension is necessary for our lives. In fact, it is essential! Life requires tension, – as does every enjoyable activity that we can indulge in. There is a joy in handling even simple everyday tasks. There is a sense of achievement in pushing the limits of our strength, speed and endurance. Even fear can be positive. It prepares us for action and helps us to think faster and act decisively in a crisis. Then, we relax. Everything rests and we return to a normal level of tension. Or, at least we should. Many of us don’t.…

(en)LIV(en)ING with the Muses – Terpsichore (Image: Carnegie Museum of Art: Terpsichore by Antonio Canova (1821)) This is the Fifth posting of the (en)LIV(en)ING with the Muses Series Terpsichore has been with me longer than I can remember. I was born to dance and the pure joy and thrill of moving through space, weaving energetic patterns and being so completely absorbed by the music are all of her gifts as you open to her magickal inspiration. Her name means “delighting in dance” and is derived from the Greek word “Terpo” which means to be amused. She is often depicted as wearing laurels on her head and holding a harp…

Tarot Talk
Two of Cups (The Lovers Card is from the artist Ciro Marchetti http://www.ciromarchetti.com/)** Last month we talked about the Major Arcana card called The Lovers. Perhaps it is fitting this month that we talk about the Minor Arcana version of The Lovers: the Two of Cups. A Tarot deck consists of 22 Major Arcana cards with archetypal correspondences that deal with broad and far-reaching life experience issues, and 56 Minor Arcana cards that are customarily grouped into four categories or suits corresponding with the four elements (sometimes called “Pips” or “Pip Cards”) that usually deal with day-to-day issues. The Two of Cups is part of the Minor Arcana; as we have…

Affairs of the Pagan Heart
Ostara and Eggs Eggs are an old symbol of new life. With fertilization, care and time, something new comes to life, and what a great opportunity it is to view a wedding as something new. A marriage is born! The most opulent display for an Ostara wedding ceremony or reception is to make or commission a Fabergé wedding egg. It is a lot of fun to make one yourself, and a great exercise for you and your partner any time, not just at Ostara or Easter. What you’ll need: eggs (raw); white are best to get the colouring you desire food colouring and jars pencil with a straight pin stuck…
