Reading With Katrina
Seeing the Dead, Talking With Spirits: Shamanic Healing Through Contact With The Spirit World Author: Alexandra Leclere Destiny Books, 2005 ISBN: 1594770832 Initially, I felt that this book was a ‘learn to’ book. I soon discovered that was not the case. Instead, I learned that it is a first person account of Alexandra Leclere, a tv producer. After having an alternative healing session, she discovered that she had ‘abilities.’ She began to research what she was experiencing, asking for answers from Shamans and other healers and through all this, she learned of her gift, the ability to see spirits. There were short stories in this book which I found almost…

Exloring Auras: Cleansing and Strengthening Your Energy Field Author: Susan G. Shumsky New Page Books 2006 Never, I repeat, never have I run across a book so ‘right on’, so informative, down to every little detail about exploring auras! I expected this to be the traditional ‘new age’ book that keeps being pumped out on the shelf and wow, was I wrong. Step by step, detail by detail and you find that you are forming questions in your head and before you get to write them down, you read a bit further and they are answered for you! Incredible! Absolutely incredible! I will be keeping this book on my shelf…

Reading With Katrina
The Way of Four Spellbook Author: Deborah Lipp Llewellyn Publications 2006 While I didn’t read the initial book by Deborah Lipp, The Way of Four, I don’t know that I would have purchased this book when it came out. To me, this was just another booked, pumped out by yet another Pagan author that is trying to gain recognition. Don’t get me wrong, she offers up spells, ideas for assisting you in rituals and spell casting, circling, etc. but to me, it was no different than any of the other 9 million ‘how to’ Pagan books that there are out there. Sorry, this one just didn’t do it for me.…

X-Witch
I conducted a small survey this week on several e-lists as to what readers believed it was that made Christianity and Paganism so averse to one another. I received a number of responses (thanks!) which ranged from intellectual issues, spiritual issues, historical issues. But the bottom line to all responses was a four letter word. The F word. Fear. Pagans fear Christians will persecute them–laugh at them at best and burn them up again at worse. And, we must give it to the Pagans; these fears are not baseless! Remember that highly enlightened time known as ‘The Inquisition’? Or how about that charming era called The Burning Times? The Pagan…

Winds of the Sand
Well, here it is April, this article I’ve been keeping somewhat of a diary to give an insight in what it’s like here. Lately, we’re seeing the end of the spring rains; it will rain until the end of April. Our biggest need currently is actually candles of various colors I need red and black specifically of dire need as I’m not the only Morrighan worker in this group. Would also like more altar tools as all our members here are setting up there altars from scratch. Our current projects include prepping for Beltane to include a May Pole and bonfire. We are preparing to have a Pagan Awareness day…

The Warrior Goddess
Introduction to the Warrior Today it seems to be common for us to believe that women of history stayed at home. That they were used and abused and generally had no power in the world of history. We are taught that only today do we have the knowledge and enlightenment to allow women to be equals with men. However, this very thought, the fact that we must constantly talk about men and women being equal, means that we do not have true equality just yet. True equality would mean we do not even think about it; it wouldn’t even be an issue. For example, if you had Charmin toilet paper…

The Internet as a Magical Tool
Ever consider the internet as a magical tool? Often the most magical of tools are not the ones we keep on our altar, but the ones that surround us every day, in places we never thought to look. The internet is one of the fastest growing "entities" in today’s culture. Is it magical? Try it and decide for yourself. What is the Internet? If you’re new to this, here’s a simple explanation of the internet: via computers and telephone lines, just about anyone has the ability to store pictures and text for others to access. How does it all work? (Who knows. I say it’s magic!) The internet is no…

Morgan’s Wardrobe
Morgan’s Wardrobe Blessed Beltaine to Everyone! Spring has sprung here in the North as I am sure it has in many different places. Sometimes with the rebirth of Mother Earth, there comes a rebirth in the energy moving through one’s space and life. In fact, this is inevitable, the real question is whether or not a person recognizes the new energy and utilizes it. Part of living Pagan is being in tune with Mother Earth and the energies she sends forth at different times of the year. It is also about dealing with the energy sent forth in a positive way and knowing when to ground some of it back…

Kitchen Witchery with Kids
Almost every witch has a respect for the kitchen, especially witchy parents. Parents master the art of taking care of their home, cooking and nourishing the family among other things. So why not put those skills in the pot with our spirituality, stir it up and teach our kids some kitchen witchery. The act of nourishing our loved ones with our magic is an age old tradition that has been passed down for ages and adopted by many cultures. The roles and responsibilities of parents have continued to evolve and as our society continues to become increasingly more violent, parents are dealing with more unique problems with their children. We…
