The Indigo Child

What is an Indigo Child?
It has been said that Indigo children display innovative and bizarre psychological attributes, which up until a relatively short time ago had not been documented. Many skeptics suggest that the indigo child is nothing more than a child suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or some other type of mental disability but that could not be further than the truth. While yes some indigo children may well be diagnosed with ADHD the truth of the matter is that these children are just old souls striving to bring the world into the next level of human evolution. A majority of the indigo children posses what some would describe as paranormal abilities such as clairvoyance, clairaudience and other psychic abilities and are generally more creative and empathetic than their non-indigo counterparts.
Now some of you might read this and say how does she know so much about indigo children any way? Well the answer to that is I am an indigo adult and am the mother of three indigo children each of whom are as different as night and day but are special n their own ways. My one son has been diagnosed with everything from ADHD to Asperger’s syndrome when in all actuality he is just a normal kid who happens to have been blessed with the gift of healing; while my other son who is now 21 years old and now an indigo adult has never suffered from any misdiagnosis and is a happily married man with a beautiful son but has the gift of clairvoyance and finally my 12 year old daughter is generally a happy child but due to the constant ridicule of her peers at school and often times their parents she has in the past suffered from severe migraines and depressive mood swings. However, after talking with a therapist who also happens to be an indigo adult she has been able to accept her gifts of clairaudience and now embraces her specialness.
How can you tell if Your Child or Yourself are Indigos’?
Below I have compiled a list of questions for you and your child to answer:
* Are you or your child always searching for your greater purpose in life but feel as if the world is not ready for you?
* Do you or your child sometimes feel wise beyond your earthly age?
* Do you or your child have trouble meeting the requirements of everyday society?
* Do you or your child often feel out of place in the world today?
* Do you or your child see the world exceptionally differently than most individual’s around you?
* Do you or your child have strong intuitions about things that the majority of others do not?
* Do you or your child often feel as if no one understands you when you try to express your feelings about what’s real?
* Are you or your child a seeker of the truth?
* Do you or your child feel as if you were born to achieve a special mission in life?
* Do you or your child feel cut off from the rest of the world when it comes to your beliefs?
* Are you or your child misunderstood by family and friends?
* Do you or your child more often than not feel unsociable except when you are with like minded individuals?
* Are you or your child emotionally sensitive?
* Did you or your child have a difficult childhood?
* Do you or child oftentimes feel disempowered by excessive authority?
If you or your child answered yes to at least 10 of these questions it is a very strong possibility that you too are Indigo and if that s the case embrace your gifts as they were given to you for a reason, a reason we may never know in this lifetime or even see come to pass but one day it will if not for us for our children.

[...] have a new column and starting this month The Indigo Child. Michele Burke will not only teach you about what an Indigo Child is, but she will answer all and [...]
if you dont mind i would like to get your thoughts on a few things, and a few ?’s i have about add/adhd and indigo kids.
a little back ground on me and my family
i am 32 and have add. I also have 2 kids who i think have it also. i see the same signs with them as I have. not being able to keep your mind on one thing(for me its more like 12), not being able to sleep well or fall sleep period, and the not being able to sit still for longer periods of time.
i teach them way that i have learned to cope with my add- baths(i dont know why but water helps us), tappin my foot to keep my mind and body in the here and now, music etc. little things that help me i have found also help them.
i do also think we are all indigo as well…i can remember back to about the age 6 and seeing my first spirit. my mom always tells me that i woke up one day when i was 3 and told her i talked to god. i even recall a dream that my mom and me had at the same time when i was little. i have always been drawen to animals-love them more than people most days.
i now am a military wife, a stay at home mom-which i love. I read tarot, am a reiki master, this year I plan to get my cert. in herbalism. the only down side to my life is that i suffer from 3 chronic pain illnesses-which can really stink being 32 and feeling like ur 80. but i know i was giving these illnesses for a reason and with out them i dont think i would have found my path as soon as i did.
my littlest who is 5 wow-she talks to faes, always plays outside and loves to play alone. she can recall my grandmother who died when she was one, like it was yesterday and its been almost 5 yrs since she pasted on. last month before i went into to have surgery- one that we told her little about b/c we thought it was cancer- she woke up ran up an hugged me telling me bast and her kittens(that died about 2 yrs ago) talked to her in her dreams and told me not to worry i would be ok. she was right i didnt have cancer.
my son-he is so much like me. he is almost 10. he has a lot of issues sleeping- like me sleeps better if he has music or a tv on. helps our minds not wander all over while we try to fall sleep. we both are very emotional and very empathic. we both also suffer from mirgraines. he has had dragons speaking to him since he was 3, he also can read tarot pretty well. he is very into drawning and gaming..
my kids also love stones, crystals and animals. they each have a familier already- but our home is a small zoo. they are both like me in a way we will never grow up lol. we will always have that inner child deep inside and we let it out and play as often as we can.
my kids are gifted healers- they know when i am having a bad pain day. both will run right over and reiki me. or if their dad has a headache, or one of our older animals are in pain they are the first ones to run over to offer help.. i have never attuned them, nor do i think i have to.. they just have it in them
i think that we are drawn to the health, teaching fields b/c of our understandings. do u think this to be true also?
do you think that indigos seem to be very bonded to animals?
also do indigo’s seem to suffer from chronic pain illnesses?? i have talked with many many other people who are indigo who have fibro, rsd etc..
any sudgestions on how else i could help my childern, or even myself to embrace our gifts better?
thank you

Hi
I have believed for a couple of years now that I am an indigo adult but have found it difficult to find other indigos or to find counsel on how to deal with my frustrations and utilize my gifts. I have been / am a practicing witch for almost half of my life and even within my spiritual community I have trouble finding guidance. I think I’ve been doing ok since I figured out what my issue was, the first time I read a list of indigo traits I bust into tears becuse I “Just Knew”. Are there any outlets – books, websites, anything? that you can recommend to aid me on my journey?
Blessings

I’m not sure if this falls with being an Indigo… but most of the Witches I know or have known, have been plagued with back/hip/leg pains…to the point (in my case), where it feels as if my hip has been dislocated or broken.. just hurts to even move. Just makes me wonder what WE deal with, that manifests in our backs, legs and hips… is it from “carrying” others, and if so, how do we go about “putting them down” and letting them carry themselves? Any ideas? And some of my happiest, “lose myself” time is alone in the gardens… I go out to water something that should take just a few minutes, and when I come back into the house, I see that a few HOURS have passed. For this and the pain, and some other reasons I’ll not take space up to go into, here and now, I believe I’m Indigo, at least in some senses… as is my grandson….as was MY grandmother… and the “skipped” generation thing, as to be “inherited” doesn’t apply here, I was adopted at birth. Can Indigo be a product of environment, as well as heredity?

I have to wonder. How far can you go to talk about the Indigo’s and not talk about the Crystals. The Indigo’s are trailblazers for the next generation of children and adults who are going to bring this world into a new conscieciousness. It’s almost as if Crystals are the next step in our evolution as humans. They operate on a much higher level then “normal” people, I guess you could say. They are more intune with nature and all of nature’s creatures. I know, because my daughter is a Crystal child. On top of that she is a see-er. At almost 2 (on July 30) she has seen spirits since before she could talk. There is a great book by Doreen Virtue called The Crystal Children. Of what I’ve read, Indigo’s are the ones with the fires in their belly’s. They are the warriors, head strong and determined. Crystals are the ones who have almost an enlightened nature to them. But amazingly enough the 2 almost go hand in hand.
I know without any doubt that I am Indigo.
I have every trait ever associated to Indigo’s.
For about a year now its been in my head. “talk to the one L Michele”
And also for that year so has been in my head the question…How do I get stronger??
Can you help?..

I am so glad i found your website. Im 20 i have always had friends who are 30+/- years older than me and currently dating a 39 year old i dont feel like i belong with kids my age i get irriateded. All my life when i rub my eyes putting pressure on them i see light brown triangles that fade out into wall paper revealing a black stove there is nothing else i turn and walk down a hall, brown triangles everywere, until i reach the end of the hall and there is a brown cermaic angel on the wall and thats it. All through school i had a really bad temper for no reason. Sometimes i would accidently pass out. I have the best parents in the world! They are what every parent whants to be. when i was about 7 years old i would lay down to go to bed and just daydream of tragic things happening to me like getting pregnet as a teen and losing the baby, getting raped, my father dying, ect. and i didnt know why i was thinking these horrible things and i was embarrased to say anything to anyone, not even my mom. This whent on nite after nite until i was about 11 and these terrible daydreams started happening to me exactly how i thought about them. I turned to drugs and was hooked on meth at 14 and mentally shut down at 15. I became apathetic and didnt even care it didnt bother me. So at 18 i voluntarily checked myself into treatment. When i got to the 9th step (i think) i was supposed to have had my spirital enlightenment and accepted a higher power and i hadnt felt it (i never have) when i told the priest he looked at me and and had read my file and asked me if i was an indigo child. I had never even heard of this befor and never looked into until today. I havent been able to get my mind of my stay at treatment these last two weeks and then i remeber the indigo child. every thing in my twisted little life made sense and i can feel it in my heart. When i meet someone i can tell what kind of person they are. I work in a haunted motel and live on haunted property (not the house just the land). My whole life i just felt lost and i went to the bookstore today and read some stuff on indigo children and i suddenly i dont feel so isolated. Am i right? am i truly an indigo child?
Thank you for reading my story
I have every trait or characteristic you have listed in this article.
And my daughter has many of them, too. We both could very easily
be classified as “Indigos”.
However, neither one of us is ADHD. In fact we are both very calm
individuals by nature, and can focus our minds extremely well.
Sometimes too well! We both sleep like a log most nights, but do
have very unusual dreams that we share with one another.
The practice of meditation makes us even calmer.
I don’t understand ‘why’ so many Indigos claim to have ADHD.
Every time I read about one on the Net thats usually the first trait
they talk about…..having ADHD! Like one cannot be Indigo without it!
What’s up with this?
I’d like to know what you think about this, if possible.
Thank you for reading,
