Consult Your Inner Psychic: How To Use Intuitive Guidance To Make Your Life Work Better
Author: Carole Lynne
Red Wheel/Weiser 2005
Book and CD
ISBN: 1578633435
I liked this book and cd duo for several reasons. I don’t think that even those of us who do have the gift of psychic ability take the time to really listen and learn, to master out gifts. Carole Lynne in this book and cd duo walks you through doing just that. She teaches you how to listen to your gut, to recognize and respond accordingly to that feeling. I believe that someone who seriously wishes to learn about their inner psychic, or to study further, this book will be a great asset to them. For someone looking for the quick fix, the instant knowledge, while she does offer a quick path, it just won’t do you any justice if you don’t wish to honestly listen and learn. We all know that we have had experiences in our lives when we shoulda, woulda, coulda, well, Carole, with her book and cd, makes us well aware of when, how and why and teaches us how to recognize, react and respond.

Seeing the Dead, Talking With Spirits: Shamanic Healing Through Contact With The Spirit World
Author: Alexandra Leclere
Destiny , 2005
ISBN: 1594770832
Initially, I felt that this book was a ‘learn to’ book. I soon discovered that was not the case. Instead, I learned that it is a first person account of Alexandra Leclere, a tv producer. After having an alternative healing session, she discovered that she had ‘abilities.’ She began to research what she was experiencing, asking for answers from Shamans and other healers and through all this, she learned of her gift, the ability to see spirits. There were short stories in this book which I found almost to be destraction but still, I liked the book. I do believe though, that the title makes one believe it’s a ‘how to’ book as opposed to a womans accounting of her experiencing seeing the dead.

Exloring Auras: Cleansing and Strengthening Your Energy Field
Author: Susan G. Shumsky
New Page 2006
Never, I repeat, never have I run across a book so ‘right on’, so informative, down to every little detail about exploring auras! I expected this to be the traditional ‘new age’ book that keeps being pumped out on the shelf and wow, was I wrong. Step by step, detail by detail and you find that you are forming questions in your head and before you get to write them down, you read a bit further and they are answered for you! Incredible! Absolutely incredible! I will be keeping this book on my shelf for sure! I learned so much from this book! I am a Reiki student currently and this book is definately helping me to further myself in my studies and to assist me in using the energy field in a different manner to assist in the healings that I am doing! Fabulous! Love it! Recommend highly!

The Way of Four Spellbook
Author: Deborah Lipp
Llewellyn Publications 2006
While I didn’t read the initial book by Deborah Lipp, The Way of Four, I don’t know that I would have purchased this book when it came out. To me, this was just another booked, pumped out by yet another Pagan author that is trying to gain recognition. Don’t get me wrong, she offers up spells, ideas for assisting you in rituals and spell casting, circling, etc. but to me, it was no different than any of the other 9 million ‘how to’ Pagan books that there are out there. Sorry, this one just didn’t do it for me. If perhaps, I wasn’t as old as I am and not raised in the Craft, this book might have mystified me, but, with all the knowledge and experience I have, this just was the same old, same old for me.

Dreams, Drums, & Green Thumbs
ist: Bonnie Lockhart 1032 Winsor Avenue, Oakland, CA. 94610
Year 2002
Intially, this cd held nothing for me as the first song In My Family’s House
reminded me kind of the something I would hear on the Beverly
Hillbillies…and I mean no disrespect by that. It just was not of my taste.
Who Were The Witches was a very amazing and powerful song and I believe my
favorite on this cd. I decided that perhaps since I was 38, that I needed a
childrens opinion. I borrowed my neighbors kids who are ages 2 and 7 years
of age. Some of the songs caught their attention as they were upbeat and fun
while others were sung quite like slow ballads and I noticed that the kids
didn’t respond as well. Perhaps as background music in a day care this would
be good, or perhaps for a homeschool mom but just to pop this cd in and
expecting the kids to be entertained…I don’t see it happening.

CD Review
Sounds of Tantra: Mantra Meditation Techniques from Tools for Tantra by
Harish Johari 1991 Destiny Recordings
This was two 60 minute cd’s that I became instantly enthralled with. I
actually used some of them during meditations that I did and found my
journeys to be more in spiritual flow. I actually became so relaxed during
one of the recordings that I fell asleep. One can easily be lulled by these
cd’s…how relaxing. The music was the same in each different Mantra, only
the words changed and to be honest with you, it took me about 8 Mantra’s to
realize this. This is a keeper in my library and I would suggest it to
anyone who has problems with visualization, blocking out the surrounding
noises or who would like some assistance on their spiritual journey of
mediation. Grab some Nag Champa and let’s meditate!

“Something Magic”
by Maggie S. Davis; illustrated by Mary O’Keefe Young, 1991. Simon & Schuster for Young Readers, 1230 Ave. of the Americas, New York, NY 10020 $13.95 (U.S.) ISBN 0-671-69627-0
Something Magic Happens for the Reader too!
While not overtly Pagan, this lovely children’s story focuses on a young girl’s special relationship with her Grandmother. Beautifully worded, colorfully drawn, this story can easily wet your eyes. All through the story, the girl tries to see which part of herself most resembles her “Gammy.” There are healthy, graceful undertones about the way Gammy has aged over the years. There is also a very touching page where they remember Grandpa, who is dead, but is still close to Gammy. As the book draws to a close, the young girl sees something magic happen to Gammy! “Light shone from inside her. It twinkled in her eyes and made her face look rosy. It was brighter than the moon and made me warm. Maybe that’s the part of Gammy that I look like.” When we turn to the last page, something magic happens for the reader too! We see that the story is really being told by a Mother, telling her own memories of Gammy to her young daughter. “Maybe that’s the part of you that looks like me,” she says standing hand in hand with her daughter, walking where the tip of the ocean meets the sand. Maid, Mother, and Crone come full Circle! work is unique in style, since each drawing sketches a white-bordered photo, like what we’d see in an old family album. There are several nice renderings of the full moon and other nature scenery too. While the price is a bit steep, hopefully this book is one that your children will keep and share one day with their own grandchildren.
