The Witch’s Cupboard

An Herbal/Spice Blend to Kill Anything Over the Winter Season

Some people call this fire cider, I call it, well nasty…Actually I call it Flu Juice.  Everyone has their own recipe, and I am no exception. So, without further ado, here it is:
You’ll want to start this on the Full or New Moon
1 part Garlic
1 part Horseradish (The Fresh Root if you can get it but jarred is fine)
1 part Onion
1 part Fresh ginger
1/4 part Cayenne
1 part Honey
Apple Cider Vinegar, with the Mother in it. (Non-filtered, Like Bragg’s)
Chop the garlic, onion, and horseradish (if fresh) into fine pieces or add 1 part jarred.. Grate the ginger. Amounts: If you’re unsure, start with equal amounts of the first four ingredients.  Chop enough of the first four ingredients to fill a quart jar (a wide mouth canning jar is great!) approximately half full. Cover with Apple Cider Vinegar keeping vinegar about two to three inches above the herbs. Add cayenne. Let sit for one half Lunar Month (about 2 weeks.) Strain with a really fine mesh strainer and discard spent herbs. Now add the honey.
Flu Juice should taste hot, spicy and sweet all at the same time. It can take some time getting used to straight. You’ll want to take one teaspoon a day and throwing it in some orange juice will help tremendously.  I actually like it as a salad dressing, so don’t be afraid to experiment.  You’re doing something good for yourself so don’t forget that!
