Independence Day – Sun in Cancer at 12 degrees
Thursday, July 4, 2013 – 5:49 am EDT (sunrise) and 8:36 pm EDT (sunset)
Happy 4th!! Ruled by the Moon, the Sign of Cancer dwells on the emotional side. Be nostalgic and patriotic as you feel best suited for the occasion. For the holiday, the Moon closes in to the Balsamic phase and sits in Gemini bringing versatility in knowledge and effort. If you plan to be on the road to watch fireworks, it would behoove you to know your path and your destiny. Plan ahead, if you need to. Bring a blanket to watch the fireworks on the grass or take a couple of chairs to sit on. Rushing will not be beneficial, so plan ahead.
Saturn goes Direct in Scorpio at 4 degrees
Monday, July 8, 2013 – 00:15 am EDT
Saturn represents restrictions and limitations. It can also represent caution and concern. On a personal level, it represents self-discipline. When it moves forward in Scorpio, there is determination to follow thru on your convictions. If you have made any commitments, now is the time to complete them or make a big step to accomplishing your tasks.
New Moon in Cancer at 16 degrees
Monday, July 8, 2013 – 3:14 am EDT
Cancer is ruled by the Moon; it’s the only Sign that is. When the Moon is New in Cancer, it recharges its batteries while it’s “home”. Expect emotions to be all over the board. New Moons are conjunct the Sun and, between the two Planets, there is a very powerful draw on all living things on the Earth. As the Earth turns, the oceans are pulled even higher off the land. Can you imagine the effect it has on every living thing? It is very powerful. Motherly instincts are in high drive at this time. Find time to be creative, too!
Grand Trine between Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune)
Tuesday, July 9, 2013 – 5:52 am EDT (sunrise)
Grand Trine energy is very favorable and can be quite inspirational. There is a sense of approval from the Planets in general that lock into position. This Grand Trine has been easing into position for some time, but is finally making its presence known within the three water Signs making this Grand Trine compassionate, sensitive, possessive, placid and intuitive. The 3 Water Signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.
When Jupiter is in Cancer at 3 degrees, it has a sense of making emotional bliss out of trivial acts. Avoid over exaggerating or you will seem like a farce of energy.
When Saturn is in Scorpio at 4 degrees, you should seriously take caution in every respect. Be conservative and determined to make your point, but do it casually – nonchalantly. Avoid “stinging” others into submission.
When Neptune is retrograde in Pisces at 5 degrees, it means you can see more clearly, like the fog has been lifted, for a short time. It helps understand higher concepts of beauty, love and spirituality.
As these three Planets and energies combine in a Grand Trine, take your time in all you do. Offer gratitude when necessary without over doing it and you will see that your efforts will pay off in the end.

Uranus goes Retro in Aries at 12 degrees
Wednesday, July 17, 2013 – 7:02 pm EDT
Uranus is that Planet that hates to be confined. It is known as the “break out” Planet for that reason. When retrograde, Uranus can be responsible, more traditional and relaxed. As Uranus goes retrograde in Aries, there is a feeling of enthusiasm and courage to take responsibility. It is not a time to worry about what others think about you. Do your own thing at your own pace and life will be grand.
Mercury goes Direct in Cancer at 13 degrees
Saturday, July 20, 2013 – 6:37 pm EDT
Ah… finally!! We can breathe a sigh of relief from all the discord, which retrograde Mercury had brought us. Computers and electronic glitches should start righting themselves and communications will make sense again. As Mercury passes thru Cancer, life at home will begin to settle and feel just right, too.
Venus enters Virgo
Monday, July 22, 2013 – 8:25 am EDT
Venus finds itself in its Fall when entering Virgo… not a very prominent position for Venus on the Zodiac Chart. The Planet of hedonistic love wanders with precision in the Sign of exactness. Know what you want, when you want it or you won’t get what you want exactly. And that won’t make for a good setting. Don’t fret about what others want; just be mindful of your specifics and be justified that it is what it is at the time.
Sun enters Leo – Happy Birthday, Leo!!
Monday, July 22, 2013 – 11:44 am EDT
Leo people are very family oriented. They are loyal and trustworthy people. The Leo you remember as a child will still be the same at retirement. Because Leo is ruled by the Sun, they typically seem to think the world revolves around them and they are the center of attention. They appreciate having their friends and family around them, thus they make excellent hosts. Leos need regular exercise to attain their strength and agility. Leo people tend to be quite generous, so never refuse a gift or they will be quite insulted.
Leo people are prone to back and spine ailments due to emotional strain or physical exertion. When they feel the weight of the world upon their shoulders, they feel it physically in their back.
Full Moon in Aquarius at 0 degrees
Monday, July 22, 2013 – 2:16 pm EDT
A Full Moon in Aquarius brings emotional independence. Where co-dependency used to thrive, it no longer does. It is a time for folks to take a stand and be firm in their beliefs and faiths. It will be difficult to budge opinions, when folks are emotionally set in their ways. People will make their own decisions and make appropriate transitions for the Path they walk.
American Native Lore
In July, some tribes of the Native Americans referred to the Full Moon as the Full Buck Moon, because it was a time when the antlers began to emerge on the bucks with soft velvety coverings. Other Natives called it the Thunder Moon, because it is the time of the year when thunderstorms are most prominent. Farmers sometimes refer to it as the Full Hay Moon, because the hay fields were beginning to dry out enough to harvest the grains and bale the hay for future bedding and fodder for the animals.

It is the first harvest festival. Foods sacred are typically grains of all sorts, vegetables off the bush or fruits off the vine. Breads and barley meads are custom as well. This Sabbat is also known as Lammas or the Mass of the Loaf (Loafmas). Sheaths of grain are usually hung on walls to represent prosperity. The Tailtu Games are warrior games that honored Lugh’s mother. They are reminiscent of the Olympic Games, but from another time and culture.
