Gaian Tarot: 2nd Edition is a much-anticipated re-do of the popular Gaian Tarot that has been out for some time now. While I never had the chance to have the original edition of this beautiful and meaningful deck, I can safely say I see why it’s remained such a popular Tarot deck for beginners and seasoned Tarot readers alike. The symbology and imagery in this deck are unmatched in terms of inclusivity to all genders, cultures, and ethnicities, truly encompassing Gaia in all of her facets and reflecting all of her peoples.

The cards follow a similar structure to traditional tarot systems, but with changed names, The Fool becomes the Seeker, and the Hierophant becomes the Teacher, and so on. The suits, instead of being Cups, Wands, etc., are instead given their corresponding elements, such as Fire, Water, Earth, etc. While not confusing to most seasoned Tarot readers, beginners may struggle with this end of the deck, so I would recommend keeping a traditional RWS deck around for reference. Aside from that, the readings this deck gives will touch on multiple levels of your existence-mainly physical, mental and spiritual. It’s as if Gaia herself were having a conversation with you, seeing your heart, your troubles, and your successes, too.

The wisdom in each reading I’ve given with this deck has been sub-par none, and indeed even excels other tried and true decks I’ve come to know over my years reading the Tarot. The guidebook is a treasure trove, holding meanings for each card, spreads and even earth-centered spiritual practices to incorporate this deck into. The cards themselves are of sturdy cardstock, and are each is gilded in a brilliant gold, adding another layer of beauty to this already enchanting deck. Gaian Tarot: 2nd Edition has been my divination ally all summer long, and will most likely continue to be into the Fall and Winter. I have no issues with this deck and only praise. I give it a 5/5 Pentagram rating. Pick up a copy for yourself and connect with Mother Earth!
