    Fairytale

In all of the places gray Glimmer Man carried his secret that there is death in life and life in death. A dancer of veils followed his footsteps. A man with a drum arrived at dusk setting fire to the circle of souls. Lovers embraced transforming memory. Out of their kisses grew gardens of Spanish lavender. Angels returned to orchards.  Yes angels. The old were enchanted and young again. Because of this Earth magic withered faces of misery hid forever in the leaves of history. Play of children blew dust and ashes away. In all of the places gray a fairy tale was brought to life. Beauty of the young…

    Self-Sufficiency is Earth Friendly

With the rise in prices all over the place, from groceries to gas to clothing, we should all be seriously considering how to be more self-sufficient. I am not talking about refining your own bio-diesel, although that is becoming increasingly more common. I am talking about making a space in your life for bringing back a little of what our ancestors did on a daily basis. Even if you live in suburbia-type dwelling, in a rural town or in a downtown high-rise, a little of Nature can be brought into your life and home, cutting a little from your food budget and reducing greenhouse emissions. Consider a patio garden, where…

    Animal Wisdom

Animals That Heal It’s been known for years that bringing animals to cancer wards, nursing homes and facilities of the like actually help the sick improve their health. The excitement and unconditional love these animals give is the best medicine for any person. But did you know that animals can really heal people? Our favorite pets are natural Reiki Masters, attuned to earth energy they can call upon the healing energy of Mother Earth to help heal those they care about. Animals can sense earthquakes, death, intruders and the like way before we can. So it isn’t that far fetched to say that they are also illness detectives, Marvin my…

Dreams II.. The Place Where Karma Is Counted “Dreams are illustrations…from the book your soul is writing about you.”  Marsha Norman Where do we go when we dream?  I know that literally our bodies stay in our beds, but where does the mind go when we are resting?  It is my personal belief that our soul travels to another realm or frequency.   I suppose to fully understand the view from where I stand a brief explanation is needed.  For me there is a place, a place that we all come from, a place where our spirits are energies, a place where karma is counted.  I suppose the easiest way to…

    New to the Craft

Bridging the Religious Left and Right As is often the case on any issue, it tends to be that the loudest voices come from the extremities. So when we see conversations on religion in the public forum it tends to be from either an extreme atheist or an extreme Bible-thumper, both of whom seem exasperated that the whole rest of the world is in the opposing camp. All scientists are not godless robots any more than all Christians, Muslims, etc are irrational father-figure worshipers; yet those are the stereotypes that tend to surface when we try to have a discussion on divinity. Science tends to ignore and dismiss what it…

Spring is nearly here, the cold weather is beginning to wane and the showers of Spring will soon begin to fall. A short time after all that the plants will begin to bloom and the trees to turn green again. The animals will awaken and go out to forage and look for new food to fill their bellies empty from a long winter hibernating. For me and my family this month has also been a time of rest and renewal. With nearly two months between Sabbats, we can take a break and turn our focus onto resting and preparing for the work of the coming season. Soon we will be…
