Political Magick?
For the past winter I have sat in dispair over the political antics of our current administration wondering what can I personally do to change all this. Like the little dutch boy plugging holes in a damn more holes appear every day and we run out of fingers and toes and tongues to plug all the new holes opening and blasting our constitution, our voting rights, our environment. Peak oil and global warming with threats of food shortages on top of a pole shift makes for nightmares for the average person. Yet there isn’t much the average person can do. We work too many hours, have too many bills and…

Pagan Theology
Theology is for Christians I can think of nothing more controversial, personal, or sensitive to Pagans than the topic of Theology. We can talk easily of sex, magic, and many other things without raised eyebrows or controversy (well…maybe) but what we believe, why we believe it, and how we reason about it can become a very touchy subject. Perhaps its because the Theology goes to the heart of faith, to the most personal and inner places, and thus it becomes so hard to have a dialog instead of a monolog. So what better topic for a monthly column? Ok, so there are better topics. Go read the sex magic column,…

Mystic Thoughts
I am a horrible procrastinator, with a horrible memory! But, I still try, still forge ahead, with everything that I do.. I’d like to share with you all some places I have had the joy to eat out at. *Lone Star Antiques Tea Room. They’ve recently moved their location from the Rufe Snow/NE Loop820 area, to just north of NE Loop 820 on Denton Hwy.(where the Sutherlands used to be). I, myself, LOVE antique rooms, and the little tearooms nestled inside most of them. Their sandwiches may seem a little on the pricey side, but its well worth the trip! They’ve got this excellent fruit dip that is a tangy,…

Morgan’s Wardrobe
Blessed Ostara from Morgan’s Wardrobe! At long last it seems Winter is slowly but surely loosening its icy grip up here in the land of the North Star. As Wiccans, we honor the Earth and part of that is being attuned to the changes of the seasons as she wakes from her long Winter nap. This month I would like to share ways I tune into Mother Gaia and what Spring looks like through the eyes of this witch. One of the ways I tune into Mother Gaia is by watching her as well as her four-legged and winged creatures. While there are fewer visits from Winter friends at the…

Life In Iraq
Well. here I sit in Kuwait after a 2-week mental break back home. A “Safe-zone” they call this place, as safe as you can get for being in the Middle-East. No attacks here minus the sporadic drive-by shootings of a military bus from some disgruntled Middle-Easterner. I think of the bigger-picture. Civil war is looming on Iraq’s horizon, attacks have slowed down, or have they. They still find weapons caches, there are still daily IED attacks on our convoys if your on the road. Fortunately for me, I never leave my base; however, In Desert Moon I do have Soldiers living in isolated areas, some go on daily patrols, some…

Lady’s Musings
Beltane and May Celebrations Merry Meet Beltane is April 30th – May 1st in the Western Hemisphere. This is one of the 8 Sabbats of the year. This is said to be the beginning of Spring. The Goddess throws off her maiden robes and takes on the robes of the Mother, with her Consort and mate, the Green Man standing by her side. It is also said to be the celebration of Persephone returning from the Underworld to her mother in our world, allowing the re-awakening of the land. It is the historically celebrated half-year mark, the counterpoint of Samhain, which is the end of the year, November 1st. May…

The Good, Bad and the Ugly of relationships. If you find yourself in the same type of relationship time after time, you might enjoy this little exercise. The Darker Side of Things
In this months Paganpages, I’m taking a bit of a different direction. Whether we are LHP or RHP, we have totem animals. I was curious as to whether the type of totems we have go along with our path. But, I’m not so sure that holds true. I have thought about what mine are and the different ones seem to encompass all traits of myself. One I would consider a darker totem is the raven/crow. Now, that one has been mine since childhood. A lot of people do not have a fondness for this particular bird, but i have always loved them. Another one close to me, is a wolf.…

Daily Spirit Work
Everyone finds their path to the divine in different ways and at different times. The pagan path can mean so many different things to each individual. Where do we start in learning to live by a spiritual code or a spiritual life no matter what pagan path you follow? So often people are conditioned to work inside the box and never venture outside of those walls. But when talking about living a spiritual path, not a “religious” path, we are looking at not only living outside of the box, but realizing that there is no box. We are conditioned to create these boxes because it gives us a sense of…
