The Sasuraibito Tarot is the masterful work of Stasia Burrington. Handmade and self printed since 2015, this 78 card deck is a beautiful and complex mixture of ancient Asian reverence, and millennial body positivity. The perfect expression of today’s mystic. Drawing heavily from Japanese as well as Western themes.

Paganism encompasses many walks of life. If you believe in any very old, or new age belief system that is NOT Christianity, you might be Pagan. Every habitable land on Earth had some form of paganism. When it comes to tarot, you find mostly western forms of paganism depicted, but paganism clearly includes Asian and Middle Eastern forms of magic does it not? When it comes to a tarot deck with a beautiful Asian flair, look no further!

 

 

Sasuraibito means ‘wanderer’, and appeals perfectly to the ronin within. Rendered in beautiful vivid earthen tones, The Sasuraibito Tarot immerses you in what feels so old, yet so new at the same time. Stasia Burrington’s artistry really comes to life through this deck.

The color scheme of the box and the box are a brilliant gold foil contrasted with slate and burgundy. Adorn with a beautiful double death month insignia. One gold, one hyper-detailed black and white. The death moth insignia, being the theme, is also found on the back of the card, as well as on the altar cloth as seen above.

 

 

When you open the box, the inner box reveal some Easter Egg messages. The box precisely fits the deck, and the guide booklet sits a top the deck in-case.

 

 

The first thing that will arrest your attention is the brilliant gold foil edges. These wear with use, but even then, it has a beautiful rustic look and feel.

 

 

Of all the decks I’ve handled in my life, even playing cards and trading cards, this deck has the absolute most perfect stiffness. The foil edges aid even more in the majestic feel, as the edges are smooth to the touch, and glide right through your hands during the shuffle. 

The arcana themselves are rendered in what seems to be oil based paints, and this is where the Asian inspired artwork really shines. While sticking to the baseline symbolism of the rider-waite, she completely allows her art soul to guide the rest. Following no particular rules, she deeply expresses the cards’ meaning and nature in a language your soul understands. Rich in texture and emotional color, the cards seem to manifest the Archetypes in their rawest, purest and simplest forms. The cards expressing themselves in subtle yet still exuberant fashion.

 

 

This is by far my most beloved deck. It’s my personal main deck, and I’ve owned it for 2 ½ years. It has seen some use in that time, and experienced age and wear and tear.

 

 

So I decided to purchase a second copy of this deck never to be used for readings just to preserve the art. Each card is a meticulously crafted masterpiece of artistic expression.

 

 

Even the worn deck, as stated above, just has a more rustic look. They still feel and perform like brand new, and maintain a perfect silky glide for years.

 

 

This deck is perfect in aesthetic, perfect in feel and usability, and perfect in spiritual connectivity. I recommend this deck above all others I have come across in my journey this far.
