“Everything, Everywhere, All at Once,” lives up to its name. It gives us everything. It’s a drama, a psychological thriller, a love story, a comedy and a Kung Fu action flick all rolled into one. Easily an all time cult classic which will be enjoyed by generations to come!
The story follows an unassumingly ordinary lady, Evelyn, doing her taxes for her laundromat business. Something seemingly ordinary, but giving an acute and accurate insight on how just one thing can be so complicated, when everything else in the world doesn’t stop for that one thing. During this time, her father, who is Chinese, and very traditional, visiting at the same time she’s having a tax audit. At the same time, she’s dealing with unruly customers, while at the same time, trying to save face being nice to her nice customers though she’s overwhelmed. And in the midst of all this, gets served divorce papers.
Then we’re blindsided by an interdimensional storyline, which would be difficult for the best writers, but they do an immaculate job. Stringing a multidimensional story, into a unified cohesion. We find out our main character has an important role to play in saving all of reality from the antagonist Jobu Tupaki, who has seen all of everything, and has returned with a nihilistic view, and wants to obliterate reality.
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once gives you all the genres, and satisfies you at the end as well, by offering such a complete resolution. One that breaks the 4th wall and into your soul at the true meaning of life. Get ready to laugh, cry, and EVERYTHING in-between as you ride this psychedelic hyperdimensional rollercoaster through all possible times and spaces. A great movie for any occasion, and leaves you with the deepest sense of uniqueness and purpose to your own life path. This is a movie for every human. I give this movie a 5/5!
