What Are the Magickal Arts?

… As magickal practitioners we are all “artists” in our own ways, honing our skills of creating magick, weaving patterns of energy that affect change and calling to the most Divine of our natures as we align with cosmos, greater earth and all of the many Beings that inhabit those realms. And, I like where this trend is taking us in exploring the craft in all of forms….

Spring is awakening and we honor The Magickal Art of Creation and Manifestation!

For many of us the turning of the Greater Wheel to the Spring Equinox (aka. Ostara) is one of anticipation of Spring’s growing warmth and fertile space of seeding all manners of manifest possibilities. This space of fertile energy is ripe with creation’s spark – remember that Divine Spark of the Winter Solstice? – and awaits our inspired mind to envision what we wish to create.

Manifesting” is a popular term these days and is used regarding every level of self-awareness exercise, self-improvement program, self-actualizing protocol and runs seamlessly the gamut of the spiritual-magickal and the mundane. Everyone wants to “manifest” something, whether it be a slimmer body, the love of their life, more money a better job, more energy… you fill in the blanks. And, in its organic and simplest form manifestation is an inherent ability that we have. We simply get in the way of our manifesting abilities by over complicating and/or reaching for what we want rather than what we need and what is aligned with who we truly are.

Creation is a more nebulous semantic. We create biologically, mentally, emotionally and physically all of the time. Each breath we inhale and each exhalation is a creation of vibration being sent into the vast field of energy. Every keystroke we make is a creative effort that transfers from finger to screen to page or e-destination. When we think of creation, we automatically put boundaries around what that creation will be, even if unintentionally, by the simple fact of naming or defining it. In contrast when we desire to manifest something, the sky is the limit, again even if it seems to be reined in by the specifics of the intention.

I’m sure that for some of you this will sound like a contradiction, when in reality it is merely a statement of fact that often goes unnoticed in the desire for outcome. So, what then are the rules of Creation and Manifestation? Essentially, it is less about “rules” per se and more about how we engage our active mind to inspire the work needed to succeed in what is needed.

There are no magickal spells and there is no specific formula or mantra that will spontaneously allow you to create your heart’s desire. That ability is, as I said, already there, but we step around that reality and stuck in the “what if I am successful at this?” or “I know I will fail” muck and mire. I have often said that the scariest thing about striving to manifest something or create is the thought of actually succeeding. That may sound strange to say, but if you succeed than you have to maintain and you have just set higher expectations on what the next grand achievement will be.

The words “Creation” and Manifestation” are one in the same. When we are our most creative, we are manifesting whether overtly or simply be the act of changing the energetic setting and providing fertile space for something to arise. The by-product of Creation is that which is “manifested”. And, yes that term does not have to imply a physical visage of what has been created. All the visible and manifest occurrences we experience began their life as etheric and intangible substance.

When we manifest we are creating and when we are creating we are manifesting. If we think in these terms, the learning curve of them being separate entities fades away. If I wish to manifest that better job, I must create the space and mindset for it to grow and express itself as a manifest form. If I wish to deepen my knowledge of my magickal gifts, I must create the space of open-ended acceptance of what these are in order for them to manifest in my greater work. If I wish to refine my art of Creation’s Manifestation, I must surrender to the innate power I already have and be receptive and open to that which is for my highest good with harm to none.
