Witches Soul Work
Witch’s Soul Work: Community People join community for many reasons, maybe as many reasons as there are people. I joined the Pagan community many years ago because I had a child and wanted him to grow up identifying with and belonging to a community. Some people join community to be part of something, or to have social interaction with others, because they are lonely, looking to connect with people of like mind, searching for support and healing, or many other things. When Witches or Pagans join the Sacred Cauldron community what are they looking for? If they don’t find what they are looking for do they verbalize it, ask for…

Finding the Pagan Way
We can not talk about paganism with mentioning Halloween at some stage. It is probably the most celebrated festival in the pagan calendar. It is certainly the most fun. Because of early attempts by Christian missionaries to absorb the festivals of the people they converted, this ancient Celtic feast is celebrated by many cultures around the world. Behind the masquerade and the carnival atmosphere, it is a time to work on our acceptance of the important role which death plays in the cycle of life. We prepare for winter’s barrenness and light the ritual bonfires to warm and protect us throughout the winter. Even as a child, I can remember Halloween…

Seeing the Signs
The Oracle of Napoleon: divination, Secret Code, or Both? The Oracle of Napoleon is one of the most involved divination systems I have ever encountered. Unlike other methods of divination – such as dice or cards or a pendulum, which can be easily carried in a pocket or a handbag – the Oracle of Napoleon demands that you have a set of questions that go with a chart – called “The Key” – which then the querent needs to further refer to another set of charts – it’s almost as bad as doing your taxes before we all had Turbo Tax and we had to refer to charts and booklets…

SpellCrafting: Spells and rituals
Circle Casting Merry Meet! A common practice in many pagan traditions is casting a circle, which defines a space where the ritual will occur and makes it both safe and sacred. There are as many ways to do this as there are pagans; by sharing some variations, this article invites you to think about why you do what you do and to perhaps try something new. Typically, you’ll want to cleanse the area, by tidying it up and vacuuming, and then by wafting incense, using a broom ritualistically, smudging, ringing a bell, or sprinkling salt or salt and water – all while envisioning unwanted energies dispersing. Stomping and clapping are…

MoonOwl Observations
The Goddess Persephone The Goddess of the Underworld is also known as Proserpina and she is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. The symbols of her are bats, pomegranate, seeds of grain and deer––+. The Greek world was divided into three different parts. The first is Hecate, the moon goddess, who wandered through the sky. The second is Demeter, who rules the surface of the earth, and the third is the queen of the afterlife, Persephone. Now, how did Persephone become the queen of the underworld? She was abducted by her uncle, Hades. One day, Persephone was picking flowers when the chariot of hades appeared and the god of death…

A Moment for Meditation
The 4th Chakra As I mentioned in the previous columns, when doing any chakra work, it is imperative to keep yourself grounded. While you can use any grounding exercise that you prefer, I have always used this one in my chakra classes: **Stand up, grip toes to the ground, long deep breathing, visualize your roots going deep into Mother Earth, keeping you grounded and centered. Inhale and bring the earth energy up to the base of your spine; exhale and let the energy return to the Earth. With each inhale, receive healing energy from the Earth; with each exhale, release all negativity. This will not hurt Mother Earth, as long…
