Choosing a Path My first introduction to Paganism was Wicca. And why not – information and books on Wicca, or paths derived from it, dominate the Pagan literary landscape. Many of the people I originally met either practiced it or had at some point studied it. As I learned more about Paganism, however, I quickly found other Pagan paths, each with their own focuses, pantheons of Gods and Goddesses, and interpretations of our past and future. I wanted to learn more about them to find which way was right for me. I knew I would need to both study and practice. I wanted to do it in a way, however,…

Tarot Talk
This month, we are going back to the Minor Arcana suit of Swords, and we will explore the Two of Swords, one of those cards whose message can be either a help or a hindrance to a Seeker. The Two of Swords is a Minor Arcana card so it is most likely referring to a day-to-day issue, rather than a long-term or widely-sweeping one, but this does not take away from its potential to assist us, or to cause discomfort. The keywords for this card stretch all the way from avoidance and being stuck, to peace and serenity. How do you effectively respond to such a card? By understanding it.…

A Moment for Meditation
Preparing to Meditate In the last column, I discussed the benefits of meditation and why you should attempt to practice it in your life on a daily basis. Take meditation to heart as a golden path to Infinity which must be experienced in practical activity each day ~ ~ Yogi Bhajan Preparing for meditation is more than just sitting down, closing your eyes and breathing. You must be present and open, as meditation is opening yourself to the Universe, to Infinity. Go to your sacred space that you have set up for meditation. If you have not set up a special place, then go someplace quiet where you will not…

Using a Guided Meditation Last month I wrote about the art of Pathworking. I discussed the characteristics of a Pathworking compared to that of a guided meditation; the goals being similar yet different in approach. The guided meditation makes use of entraining the mind to respond in a specific way to familiar stimuli that has direct impact on the emotions. Most often a guided meditation will be used for stress relief, changing addictive behaviors or building self confidence because these are feeling driven reactions. The intensity of transformation that a Pathworking has potential to cause at an etheric and spiritual level is equally effective in the use of a guided…

Tink about It
Initiation & Dedication For as long as I’ve been active in the pagan community certain themes or questions keep coming back. In forums, blogs, study groups and now in Facebook groups people come up with the same old issues. That’s fine, it’s the natural cycle of things. One of those topics is initiation. Let me start with a recurring misconception, that can be disputed by grammar and common sense. You can NOT initiate yourself, that’s simply impossible. The definition of initiation can slightly differ from source to source but the essence remains the same. Initiation is a process and/or ceremony by which a person is admitted to an organization /…

Celebrating the Old Ways in New Times
Bright Blessings. My favorite Sabbat is upon us soon. Samhain. Images of cute witches on broomsticks and the popular “The Witch is in” decorations hanging about come to mind. The popular saying “Ghoulies and ghosties, long leggety beasties and things that go bump in the night” comes to mind as well. Jack-o-lanterns- seances, and if course the Christian All Saints day. Not to mention candy and costumes are all some thin gs I hold sacred at this time of year. But Samhain is more, so much more than these awesome things. This blessed High Day has roots in Pre-Christian Celebrations and is named in the famous Coligney Calendar from Ireland. Most…

Astro Report for October 2014
Uranus still Retrograde in Aries – 14 degrees Uranus is that Planet that hates to be confined. It is known as the “break out” Planet for that reason. When Retrograde, Uranus can be responsible, more traditional and relaxed. As Uranus goes Retrograde in Aries, there is a feeling of enthusiasm and courage to take responsibility. It is not a time to worry about what others think about you. Do your own thing at your own pace and life will be grand. Uranus goes direct Dec 21 in Aries – 12 degrees.
