What Are the Magickal Arts?

… As magickal practitioners we are all “artists” in our own ways, honing our skills of creating magick, weaving patterns of energy that affect change and calling to the most Divine of our natures as we align with cosmos, greater earth and all of the many Beings that inhabit those realms. And, I like where this trend is taking us in exploring the craft in all of forms….

Lughnasaadh brings the bounty of the year’s growth into the space of a viable harvest of opportunity. This issue we honor..

The Magickal Art of Art of Creating Abundance!

As the Wheel of the Year comes to rest in the celebration of Lughnasadh (aka. Lammas) we are reminded of all of the hard work and effort that was undertaken to arrive at this point of bountiful growth to be harvested. Some of what was planted will not render any viable fruits or blossoms. But, other crops will yield a return that becomes the sustainable gifts to nourish throughout the coming winter months. We are also on the precipice of our next turn of the wheel-Mabon/the Autumnal Equinox and its gift of finding the balance point. So, all of what we create at Lughnasadh will become the fulcrum at the Autumnal Equinox.

So, how do we create abundance for ourselves and for others? How do we manifest a mindset that cuts through the challenges of feeling lack and continually reminds us of our power and strength to attract what is needed? And, how do we distinguish between what is “needed” and what is “wanted” and reconcile the two in the energy of gratitude?

We know the power when like attracts like and the product of that union of attraction becomes the abundance that fills our lives with joy, sorrow or something else. But, what about those more prevalent moments where it is hard to see the abundance available and to know exactly what it is that we wish to attract into our lives.

The beauty of magick is in the doing. In the experimenting and exploring as we fine tune what we wish to cultivate as our energetic signature. This is why there is such a push to cultivate gratitude daily, especially when we feel we are lacking in and have nothing to be particularly grateful for. Awareness of all the many opportunities we have to express gratitude requires that we remain fully present in each moment. And, as we become more adept at recognizing those opportunities, more will arise, making our lives abundantly filled with joy and exactly what we need to feel successful.

Manifesting abundance is not activated by any spell. These are usually short-lived because the behaviors of seeing only lack have not been replaced. And, as soon as a challenge arises or this or that spell doesn’t seem to be working, we move to another working hoping it will be the “the one”.

Intention, alone does not fare any better. Having the ideology of an abundant state of being lacks the active will (aka. concrete action) that is the fuel starter to those fires that burn fully with longevity and within their flames hold the transformative power to weave a magick of your intention. Intention, without action becomes the wish maker that resides only in dreams and deepens the “wantings” devoid of the substantive manifestation of an authentic abundant state.

As is true with all powerful magick, manifesting abundance is a collaborative effort between the ephemeral spirit of your being, drawn down into physical action and created by thought and idea. It is also crafted by creating as full and detailed an image I your mid of what an abundant life would be for you. There is no one way of abundance; it is a highly personalized state of being and is affected by so many nuances within the individual-personality, lineage, beliefs and philosophies, perceptions of self and worthiness to receive, and so much more.

And, please understand that I am making these statements to discourage, But I am saying that there is no quick, magickal trick to ensure that you will be abundant. It is a process, just as everything is on your chosen spiritual path; and a choice that is freely offered to you, albeit many do not realize the simplicity, yet difficulty of what that statement means.

So, as we prepare to celebrate Lughnasadh-the harvest and enjoy all that we have worked so hard to gather. Take a moment to acknowledge how many steps-physical and spiritual-went into the bounty of your harvest. And, as you stand in the gifts of each moment in the process, be sure to offer up gratitude for both what is viable and most importantly for what is not-for this is where the greatest lessons of manifesting an abundant life.

Blessings of this season of the Harvest……
