Book Review-Keywords for Astrology: The Essential Guide by Hajo Banzhaf & Anna Haebler

Keywords for Astrology: The Essential Guide by Hajo Banzhaf & Anna Haebler is a 280 page paperback, published by Weiser Books. Keywords for Astrology lives up to its title, as this is an essential guide for the beginning as well as more seasoned Astrologer. The books covers everything one needs to read and interpret a birth chart, from the planets, angles (ascending, descending, IC and MC), houses, signs, and aspects, even giving phrase building ideas to help express the energy of that placement/aspect, etc. Shadow and light sides of placements and aspects are each given their due, giving a complete view of the birth chart being interpreted, as well as ways to develop the shadow side into a more healthy expression of that energy. I personally used this book as a guide to interpret my own birth chart, and found myself finding new ways to express certain energies in my own chart, and even a few tips to develop the more shadowy side of those into a more constructive energy. Overall, Keywords for Astrology: The Essential Guide is a resource for Astrologers of all levels that truly lives up to its title.

Personal Thoughts on Keywords for Astrology

Personally, this is the book on Astrology I’ve been waiting for. So many others have disappointed me with lack of depth, or somewhat haphazard formatting and explanations. Of course, having studied and practiced Astrology for over a decade now, I’ve come to understand a lot about the subject; that said, this is the book I wish I had when I started out on my journey through the stars and planets. Keywords for Astrology surpassed my expectations, and will be a definite go-to in times to come when reading charts that have hard to interpret aspects, placements or relations. Keywords for Astrology will have the novice astrologer reading a birth chart with relative ease and depth in no time, and the more seasoned and veteran astrologers will find value in its reference from time to time. This book doesn’t just cover a birth chart; you can also use it to work through current transits and build accurate predictions using current astrological conditions. I cannot recommend this book enough, and so, I’m giving Keywords for Astrology a 5 on scale of 1-5. It’s just that good! Pick up a copy and see for yourself!

Keywords for Astrology is a reprint of the 1996 edition published by Weiser Books, with a foreword by Theresa Reed, author of Astrology for Real Life. The book was originally published in German. Hajo Banzhaf was a German Astrologer and Tarot card reader, and authored Keywords for the Crowley Tarot. He passed in 2009. Anna Haebler studied Astrology from age 15, branching into other esoteric studies as well. She combined psychology and astrology, pioneering the approach we see so often in Astrology nowadays.
