A World Re-Enchanted March 2025

The month of March brings the first day of Spring. The clocks spring forward for places that have daylight savings time (not something that exist for us in Hawaii) and flowers start to bloom and there is a vitality in the air.

The elemental focus for this month based on the Elven lore of Arda is Air.

As with last month another of the three Elven rings forged by Celebrimbor in the second age is associated with Air. The ring is called Vilya also known as the Ring of Sapphire, the Blue Ring or the Ring of Air. The powers of this ring while never directly stated are speculated to be healing and to preserve.

 

March Magical and Mundane Tasks

• Magical:
  • Celebrate the Spring Equinox with a nature-based ritual.
  • Create a grounding practice like walking barefoot on the earth or tending to a plant.
  • Use earth magic to grow herbs or flowers associated with connection (e.g., basil, marigold).
• Mundane:
  • Spend more time outdoors—hike, garden, or volunteer for a local park.
  • Learn about sustainable practices and implement one (e.g., composting).
  • Adopt a mindful habit like recycling or reducing waste.

 

Full Moon of March – Isilsúlimë

Isilsúlimë is the Moon of the Breezes

This full moon as well as the entire month is dedicated to the Valar Manwe the High King of Arda and Lord of the Air.

Valar of March is Manwe

Manwe Sulimo is the King of the Valar and High King of Arda overall. He is the husband of Varda Elentari the Queen of the Stars.

He is the greatest of the Ainur in authority though he is not the most powerful. He also has the greatest understanding of the vision that Ilúvatar has for the world though there are aspects that not even he is allowed to know and that are reserved for Ilúvatar alone.

He lives atop Mount Taniquetil which is the highest mountain in the world in his home known as Ilmare Turion or Starlight Palace. Together with Varda he could see farther than all other eyes the things that happen in the world.

The creatures of the air are under his command and bring him news from all over Arda.

Manwe, Aule and Ulmo are the three architects of Arda and when Arda was formed it was Manwe who denied it to Melkor. Manwe’s biggest flaw was that he did not understand evil and this caused many issues in the world when he freed Melkor from the Halls of Mandos.

He eventually had to cast Melkor into the void where he is imprisoned to this day. It is said that in Dagor Dagorath or the Battle of all Battles that when Melkor escapes that in Valinor Manwe will battle him and that neither will slay the other but Melkor will be defeated.

When wanting to connect with Manwe here is a great incantation to use.

Invocation of Manwë, Lord of the Winds

Manwë Súlimo, High King of Arda,
Master of the airs that dance above the world,
I call to thee from the depths of my mortal voice,
That I may be heard upon the echoing heights of Taniquetil.

O Lord of the azure dome,
Whose gaze pierces the veils of cloud and mist,
Whose breath stirs the firmament in ceaseless song,
Attend now this humble summons.

Let thy presence ride upon the swift-winged eagle,
Let thy wisdom descend as the whisper of the winds,
That I may perceive the currents of fate,
and walk the path set forth by the light of the One.

By the purity of the airs untouched,
By the harmony of all that soars and sings,
Let my voice rise unburdened before thee,
And may thy will guide me to understanding.

Thus, do I lift my spirit to thee,
Manwë Súlimo, eldest of the Valar,
Bearer of Ilúvatar’s sky-born vision,
In reverence and in hope.

Next month is not an element moon and instead will focus on the concept of Youth, which is what the full moon will be as well the Moon of Youth.

The Vala of April is Tulkas who is the youngest of the Valar
