⭐️ Starla Mystique is a New England witch with a love for faeries, mermaids, spirit work, nature, all things spooky and mystical, manifestation, Renaissance fairs, burlesque, true crime, and everyday magick. Starla’s journey into the craft began as a young child seeking to understand her experiences with the paranormal. While exploring these experiences with spirit and the fae, she discovered the occult. Her mom would go to a small New Age shop called Knights People, where, at age 12, Starla bought her first book on witchcraft: Teen Witch by Silver RavenWolf – and the rest is history! She left the craft in college, but recently returned to her path. Starla believes witchcraft is a personal, ever-evolving practice that doesn’t require rigid structure or dogma but instead honors what feels true to you. Art & Academia for October 2025

Here are a few of the art and academia pieces I was captivated by this past October. I tried to keep themes spooky and or witchy for Samhain/ Halloween! Science Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2025: Hermione’s Enchanted Handbag Some of you may have heard the Nobel Prize laureates in Chemistry, announced on October 8th, 2025, work was likened to Hermione’s enchanted handbag. The reality might not be quite as fantastical as the enchanted bag from the Harry Potter series, but it’s still pretty freaking cool. This year’s Nobel Prize went to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar Yaghi for their pioneering work on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). MOFs are crystalline networks built by linking metal atoms with…

    Lughnasadh, Lammas, does it matter?

As this is my first year back as a practicing witch in many years, I wanted to re-learn the Pagan origins and celebrations of Lammas aka Lughnasadh. I keep seeing both names, but ignorant as to why some call it Lammas and some call it Lughnasadh. I was surprised to discover these two names were not always the same festival, however, got combined in the Wiccan community. Therefore, it makes sense that the bits and pieces we’ve…

Art and Academia I Enjoyed in June 2025

This is a column I hope to post regularly. I was inspired by Karissa Love’s Art I consumed this Month, YouTube videos, and thought, I also consume a lot of art, but I’d like to combine that with the academia I read as well. I’m sure plenty of other people make this kind of content since ‘What I Consumed This Month’ is a huge trend, but I’ll give her credit since she’s the only one I’ve personally seen do it with art! (Though, truth be told, I don’t watch her videos much, only seen a handful. She has a cool, Western flower-child, love-witch vibe if you want to check her…

Being Ethical in the Trending World of the Occult

Witchcraft, magick, paganism, manifestation, and all things occult have surged into the mainstream. I first got into the craft before major social media was a thing, it felt like being part of a secret world. Now, witchcraft is everywhere: tarot cards are sold at grocery stores, crystals come in any shape you can think of, and TikTok has it’s own WitchTok abundant with spell tutorials and aesthetic rituals. On one hand, it’s exciting to see the craft becoming more accessible. On the other, it means low quality products are constantly being pushed on us at a markup. It raises the question: How can we stay ethical in a world where…
