    Seeing the Signs

A Morning Walk and the Cosmic Hello I take several walks a day. Part of this is because I don’t own a car so my legs are my primary source of transportation. Sometimes I am merely walking a few blocks to the bus stop to catch a bus to some other destination. Sometimes I am walking up and down Bailey Avenue, the main drag near my home, going to the few shops that remain in this benighted neighborhood, buying the items that I need to complete a meal or to fix something in the home. Sometimes I just need to get out of the house. Walking is a way to…

Celebrating the Old Ways in New Times

August 2018 for Celebrating the Old Ways in New Times Bright Blessings! It has been unusually hot this year, and me, the cats, and my husband are melting! We are thankful for our air conditioner, and we venture out early in the morning or later at night. The dog is not thrilled, as she likes longer walks, and is immune to extreme weather. Maybe I will come back as a dog in the next life! The garden, however, is absolutely thriving. The new rose I planted has tiny red sprouts on it, the cherry tomato is producing abundantly, the marigolds are showing their golden manes proudly, and the zinnias, dear…

    Tarot Talk

The Nine of Swords (The Nine of Swords card is from the artist Ciro Marchetti http://www.ciromarchetti.com/)** We haven’t talked about the Minor Arcana Nines for quite some time. This month, we will examine the Nine of Swords. Comparing cards and their individual meanings is valuable throughout the study of the Tarot, but this process is particularly useful when looking at the Swords cards. If you remember, I stated in past columns that in my opinion the Five of Swords and Seven of Swords are sometimes not easy to tell apart. Understanding these two cards and their differences helps us in part to understand the Nine of Swords and all of…

Bringing up the Next Generation of Witches

Is it just me or did July fly by? July was a month of learning with Little Bear. We spent time at the zoo, started making our favorite foods from scratch, and spent time in the Full Moon. Little Bear shows signs of intolerance to food coloring and preservatives, so I am working on eating a more natural diet with the family. This has been tough because Little Bear loves colorful foods…think popsicles! I’ve also learned that Little Bear will eat almost anything if I let him help make it. This made me so happy! Kitchen Witch Learning Time! First, we always start by adding lemon essential oil to the…

Let freedom Ring-Part Two The Cosmic Horae: Order, Justice and Peace Shall Rule The Executors of Divine Order Dike(Order) – Eunomia(Justice) – Eirene(Peace) Dike: Hora of Order Themis’ daughters are the seeds of extension for maintaining what has been decreed within the heavens. These are the controls that remand the individual to the laws of karmic order when encountered at death by their mother Themis. Their attributes are the affirmation of cosmic and earthly law being reflections of the same dynamics of order and balance that are upheld in both heavenly and earthly matters. Dike, in her role as keeper of justice and order made judgment of the moral order…

    The Road to Runes

The Road to Runes: Raidho, The Traveler’s Rune The fifth rune in the Elder Futhark, Raidho is also the fifth rune in first ætt, or set of eight runes. These first eight runes are known as Freya’s ætt, and relate to physical and emotional happiness, nurturing and compassion. Raidho literally means riding or wagon, and as such is strongly associated with journeys, arrivals, departures, reunions, relocations, traveling and vehicles. The overriding theme is not remaining stationary. Of course, not all journeys are physical. Each one of us is a traveler, making our own winding way down life’s path. We are all on a spiritual journey as well as physical one.…

“The Horn of Plenty”: A Pathworking for Lammas

This Pathworking is meant to connect us with the deeper meaning of the First Harvest of Lammas. We have sown the seeds of our will and making at Ostara, nurtured and tended to their needs; seen them in bloom at Litha and are now ready to reap what has grown and is viable to sustain in the darkness that lay in the winter months ahead. For the most effective use of this pathworking I would suggest reading it through once to set-up the initial energetic connections. Then, take some time to record the pathworking, reading it in your natural voice. Be sure to offer up timed silence in the recording…
