She Who is All – The Goddess of Ten Thousand Names

SEDNA (Image Credit: yousense.info) The story of Sedna, the Mother and Mistress of the Sea, the Goddess of marine mammals, is, to me, one of sadness and betrayal. In the Arctic Ocean of the Inuits, Sedna lived with her family. She was very beautiful and was wooed by many in Her community. She refused them, one and all. Her father, taking matters into his own hands, gave Her to an unknown hunter, in return for fish to keep the rest of his family fed. This unknown hunter was, in reality, a bird-spirit, and whisked Sedna away while She was asleep. Another version states that Sedna went with the unknown hunter…

    Gael Song

The Light Impulses of Sacred Sexuality (The Kiss by Rodin) With all the news and conflict about the Kavanaugh appointment to the US Supreme Court, I decided to focus on sexuality in this month’s article, specifically the energies of sexuality, which give an entirely different spin on what’s actually happening. If you watch the light streams around any love-making act, you’ll quickly notice there is a very bright Source of light high above. And beams from this Sun stream directly into the crown and heart of each individual partner, and from their human arms and eyes into one another. Those light beams are coming directly from the Creator Sun, the…

    Art Video

Swedish Petroglyphs     Sweden has an abundance of mysterious petroglyphs. The Swedish word for petroglyphs is “hällristningar”. This refers to figures and shapes carved in rock surfaces. Most of these images are pre-historic in origin. Scandinavia has a very large concentration of rock art, created around c. 9000 (the first century BCE). There are about 30,000 registered sites (but new sites are being discovered all the time). Vivid interpretations have been attempted, based on Old Norse beliefs and Sami ethnography. In truth we do not know until today what their purpose or meaning really was. Do they tell stories? Were they a backdrop for community rituals and ceremony? This…

    The Road to Runes

The Road to Runes: What Questions to Ask?   One of the hardest parts of divination is asking the right questions. A question that’s too closed may get an answer that makes no sense if you’re expecting a definitive “yes” or “no”. Most runes have plenty of meanings, and aren’t always obviously negative or positive. Conversely, questions that are too vague or broad leave the answer widely open to interpretation. This can lead you to find an answer that you were hoping for, rather than an accurate one. I covered these “false positives” in last month’s article. So what are the best questions to ask? What questions lead to the…

    Notes from the Apothecary

Notes from the Apothecary: Fenugreek Hailing from Western Asia, Fenugreek is an odd tasting herb with some interesting history. Seeds have been found in archaeological digs dating back to 4000 BC and were even found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. Called Greek Hay, Bird’s Foot and Sickly Fruit, the herb is considered to be a bit of a panacea, being a tonic for everything from abscesses to kidney problems.   The Kitchen Garden Fenugreek is an annual herb which means it grows, flowers and seeds all in the same year and does not return the following season. The plants can grow to two feet tall and has little white or…

Celebrating the Old Ways In New Times

Celebrating the Old Ways In New Times November 2018 Bright Blessings, It’s close to the end of the fall season here in Central Ohio, and I have just a tiny bit more garden cleanup to do. I planted the mums and spring bulbs I wanted to, and will probably leave the wood asters to overwinter under our elm tree instead of cutting them back. The days are shorter already, and we are about to Fall Back, which means it will get dark earlier very soon. It’s already as low as 29 degrees in the night and early mornings before the sun rises, and my arthritis is already ticked off by…

Book Review of Pastel Spells by Rose Orriculum

Book Review Pastel Spells by Rose Orriculum     Taken from the back cover “Pastel Spells is a pocket spell book filled with a variety of spells for witches of all levels of experience, from beginners to long-time practitioners.” That statement really sums up Pastel Spells so well. This is one of my favorite spell books to date. It doesn’t focus on any certain type of spells and even includes curses. Some of the of the spells are romantic, sexual, anti-love, platonic love/friendship, help with relationships, sour relationships, self-love, self-care/habits, self-care/emotional, healing, and, as I mentioned, curses. There is also a few spells on gender and some on orientation. I…

Book Review: Protection and Reversal Magick – A Witch’s Defense Manual by Jason Miller

Protection and Reversal Magick A Witch’s Defense Manual by Jason Miller 224 pages In the last chapter Mr. Miller writes something interesting about magickal, psychic and spiritual attacks: he states that attacks are happening every day to everyone. They are being launched not only by offended spirits and malicious magicians, but major corporations and political parties. He asks: “Where does a magical seal, a binding, end and a corporate logo start? Where does the use of neuro-linguistics programming in sales and in the use of sorceress bindings begin?” Mr. Miller says that if you haven’t thought about this as magic, then think again. Mr. Miller dedicates this book more to…

Book Review The Giggles and Joy Children’s Series   The Giggles and Joy Children’s books are a series of three books that focus on spiritual life lessons for kids.
