Author Spotlight: Laurell K. Hamilton
Who is Laurell K. Hamilton? If you have to ask, you are exactly the reason I chose to spotlight this amazing author. If you already know her, then chances are you will look forward to walking through her worlds again with me.
Laurell K. Hamilton is an American writer best known as the author of two series- The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series, and the Merry Gentry Series. She is no stranger to the New York Times bestseller list, as appearing multiple times for both series.
Anita Blake is a professional zombie raiser, vampire executioner and a supernatural expert that consults for the police. There are 30 novels in this series, and the 31st set to be released in August of this year. The very first Anita book, Guilty Pleasures, has a Copyright of 1993. The fact that she has been writing these stories since then and continues to do so while having fans waiting every year for the release is absolutely amazing.
Merry Gentry is a Princess of the Unseelie Court of Faerie, as well as a private detective who is constantly facing assassination attempts from her fellow fae. There are nine novels in this series, each one as captivating as the next. The first Merry story was published in 2000, and in almost every interview fans have asked if there will be more. It is now rumored that Laurell K will be bringing a new Merry novel to life.
Both series follow their characters through everyday life and love struggles, while facing dangerous and life-threatening situations in worlds where legendary creatures live among humans. Laurell K Hamilton has a wonderful way to bring this world to life, make you fall in love with her characters, miss them when the story is over and leave you wanting so much more.
