Tarot with Lady Saoirse- When You Decline a Client
Tarot with Lady Saoirse- When You Decline a Client
By Lady Saoirse
Bright Blessings,
All those of you who do readings for other people, I want to talk about something. What do you do when you don’t want a particular client?
You know the type. Well…there are different types…
There is the type of person who goes from reader to reader constantly, trying to get each reader to tell them what they want to hear.
Then there is the one who wants to replace mental health care with a Tarot reading.
Then there is the one who wants you to tell them all the things their ex is doing, thinking, and they want you to bash their ex with them.
There is the person who “ cannot pay right now,” but they can barter.
There is the person who comes for a reading and asks the same question Every. Single. Time. and they never take your advice.
There is the person who argues.
There is the person with very bad hygiene.
There is the client group who wants to have a drinking party with a “fun “ psychic so they can get plastered with friends and have a “good time”.
There is the person who wants to know “Why doesn’t he love me???? What can I do to MAKE him love me????”
Then there is the client who wants you to diagnose an illness or tell them if they are pregnant instead of going to the doctor.
The list is endless.
If you read for people, you have met enough of these people, there might be a chance you can spot them before they open their mouth to ask a question. They might make you question why you bother to read, and you might want to hide when they walk in. Don’t worry. You don’t have to quit being a reader, but you do have a choice to make.
You can choose to grin and bear their horrible behavior, reading for them simply because they are a customer paying for a service, or you might decide to send them away. How do you do that?
The same way your parents shut it down when you were trying to get your way about something you knew better than. Just say no.
A brilliant Priestess who has crossed the veil had a great way of dealing with people who asked the same question every last time but did not follow advice. She flat out told them “I am not going to read about this again. I have given you advice x amount of times and you have not followed the same advice I have always given you. I can see that you need to experience this for some reason right now, and I wish you well.” And the reading was finished.
As for those trying to replace physical and mental health services with Tarot readings, a company I work for has a great policy to combat that. They tell their readers it is forbidden to read about any health-related topics because a reader is not qualified to give medical advice. Problem solved.
Some psychics will not answer questions about other people during a reading at all, so the “What can you tell me about what my ex is saying or doing?” schtick does not even get off the ground.
I can’t speak for other psychics, but I will not, under any circumstances, do psychic parties, and I don’t have alcohol on the table when I read. If you are drunk, high, or just not in the state of mind to pay attention, I don’t read for you. I also do not travel to people. They come to me or I don’t read. I will do text and video calls, but I am not getting in the car to travel to you. I read at my place, at one shop, online, or via text. I will never have to worry about a plastered party group giggling and spilling booze on my cards.
As for the “I don’t have any money” crowd, well then, they don’t have a reading. You may not pay me later, and I do not want your “gifts” you have to barter. I cannot pay money with books, candles, crafts, etc. you want to dump on me. Period.
As difficult as it is for some people to understand, psychic abilities, even if they are being paid for, are not just another piece of merchandise. They are miraculous gifts, and not given to us to be squandered on people who don’t appreciate them or respect them. As a gifted psychic who is good enough to share your gifts to try and help people, sure it’s nice to earn money reading. But people need you, you don’t need them.
Read that again. Read it as many times as you need to.
Your psychic gifts help people. They comfort people who are hurting. They reveal hidden truths. They encourage people who are experiencing self-doubt. They are given to us from the powers that be, and these gifts make the world a better place.
We do not need validation from people, and we do not need an opportunity to practice. Our gifts manifest themselves in many ways. If someone is fortunate enough to benefit from them, they are very blessed indeed, and if they think you are there to entertain them or give them whatever message they expect because they give you money- they have zero respect or appreciation for psychic abilities. And they can be sent away.
Of course, plenty of readers simply tell these people during a reading “no we are not reading about that. What else would you like to talk about today?”
Just never feel guilty about putting your foot down. You have been entrusted with the gifts to make the world a better place, one reading at a time. It is an honor and a blessing. The people who don’t understand this don’t have to be accommodated- unless you want to.
Blessed Be.
Lady Saoirse is a practicing witch, and initiated Wiccan of an Eclectic Tradition.
A recovered Catholic, she was raised to believe in heaven and hell, that there is only one god, and only one way to believe. As she approached her late 20’s, little things started to show her this was all wrong. She was most inspired by the saying “God is too big to fit into one religion” and after a heated exchange with the then associate pastor of the last Xtian church she attended, she finally realized she was in no way Xtian, and decided to move on to see where she could find her spiritual home.
Her homecoming to her Path was after many years of being called to The Old Ways and the Goddess, and happened in Phoenix, Arizona. She really did rise from her own ashes!
Upon returning to Ohio, she thought Chaos Magic was the answer, and soon discovered it was actually Wicca. She was blessed with a marvelous mentor, Lord Shadow, and started a Magical Discussion Group at local Metaphysical Shop Fly By Night. The group was later dubbed A Gathering of Paths. For a few years, this group met, discussed, did rituals, fellowship, and volunteering together, and even marched as a Pagan group with members of other groups at the local gay Pride Parade for eight years.
All the while, she continued studying with her mentor, Lord Shadow, and she became a Third Degree High Priestess in 2022. She belongs to the Black Dragon Clan. She is a member of the spiritual family at the Magical Druid in Clintonville, Ohio. She has been with PaganPages.org since 2016 and writes for Green Egg and Spiritual Blossom. She has written for Mysticsense.
