Book Review: 2025 Moon Goddess Diary

Title: 2025 Moon Goddess Diary: Northern Hemisphere
Author: Nicci Garaicoa
Illustrator: Olivia Bürki
Publisher: Rockpool Publishing
Release Date: June 4, 2024
Pages: 160

This self-care workbook guides readers through 2025 with a paragraph about each new and full moon. Inspirational messages, rituals, songs, and exercises scattered throughout the days assist in aligning with nature, sometimes incorporating crystals, essential oils, and affirmations.

A goddess each month offers channeled guidance, love, and power. There are quarterly toolkits with information and five pages of prompts reminding readers to pause before the start of a new cycle, to be extra brave meeting the coming changes, and to choose one of the three goddesses presented each season with which to work. These include the goddesses of squid, sirens, sharks, serpents, and shipwrecks – all connected to ocean magic and healing. Watery shades of blue fill the pages.

Author Nicci Garaicoa encourages users of the almanac to fill its pages with scrawling scribbling, stickers, Post-It notes, cut-outs, quotes, and stick figures. Messiness and neatness are equally acceptable, as are misspellings and incorrect punctuation. She has established a supportive community on Facebook where she offers extra guidance to harness lunar energy and live each day with clarity, balance, ease, and joy.

Garaicoa and Olivia Bürki also teamed up for 2023 and 2024 diaries as well as “Moon Goddess Oracle: Sacred Feminine Wisdom,” released in February 2024.

I look forward to an abundance of magic and medicine helping me to harness my inner goddesses and thrive throughout the year. And to eliminate judging and doubts that my entries are good enough, there is a quick healing ritual in the beginning to encourage playful, creative expression.

About the Reviewer:
All my life I have known magic was real. As a child, I played with the fae, established relationships with trees and just knew things.” In my maiden years, I discovered witchcraft and dabbled in the black-candles-and-cemeteries-at-midnight-on-full-moons magick just enough to realize I did not understand its power. I went on to explore practices including Zen, astrology, color therapy, native traditions, tarot, herbs, candle magic, crystals, and, as I moved into my mother years, Buddhism, the Kabbalah and Reiki. The first man I dated after my divorce was a witch who reintroduced me to the Craft, this time by way of the Goddess. It was like coming home to myself. I have been in multiple covens, some virtual. As an eclectic solitary practitioner, I travel the country in a converted school bus and share magick with those I meet. Find me at https://thewitchonwheels.com/ and on Facebook.
