Enchanted Tales: Magical Fairy Tales from Around the World written by Laura Sampson, and illustrated by Quang and Lien, is a 95 page book, published by Running Press Kids Publishing, of which I received an e-book copy. This is a beautifully illustrated kids’ book, filled with fairy tales, folklore and myths from various regions of the world. If you’ve been looking for a diverse book of kids’ fairy tales, either for them to read themselves, or be read to, this book is worth consideration, especially. for those looking to keep our lore, collectively, as humans, alive and well in the next generations. The pages are beautifully illustrated, and some of the stories, such as those from the Grimm brothers, are made more palatable for younger readers. I personally found an appreciation for there being such diverse selections, from Yoruba, Vietnam, Native American, and more, in terms of cultural fairy tales.

Personal Thoughts on Enchanted Tales

This is the kids book I would read to my kids from every night, if I had kids! The stories selected teach important moral and ethical lessons, and some, even deeper spiritual messages. As stated before, the illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and the stories are easy for anyone to read. As an adult, I myself enjoyed perusing the different stories and found myself reading many more than expected. From Czechia, Japan, Russia, and Scandanavia, and many more, come these stories with their diverse cultures and values. As someone who enjoys learning about different cultures (in a respectful way, of course), I enjoyed this book. It’s lighthearted, but spiritual at the same time. I can’t really find anything to criticize in Enchanted Tales, so I’ll get right to rating it. On a scale of 1-5, I give Enchanted Tales: Magical Fairy Tales from Around the World a 5; it’s packed with interesting fairy tales and folklore, and beautifully illustrated. Safe for kids, and adults!
