Astrology’s Magical Nodes of the Moon: Releasing the Past & Embracing the Future by Carmen Turner-Schott and Bernie Ashman takes a more advanced astrological concept and placement, and puts it in laymen’s terms. You don’t need to know everything about astrology to understand the material in this book, as Turner-Schott and Ashman, two well-respected and renowned Astrologers, break down the basics of the signs, houses and planets, before even going into the Lunar nodes, their signs and houses. After the reader gets a quick crash course in Astrology, which in and of itself is concise, accurate and easily understood by anyone, the Lunar Nodes are discussed, in what is called “polarities” in Astrology. Polarities are, simply put, two sides of the same coin; Taurus and Scorpio, Gemini and Sagittarius, etc., are what are being referred to. In other words, the signs are opposites, yet more similar than you’d believe when you look deeper into those signs. The Lunar Nodes are given by sign and house, with the houses being listed in the sign they traditionally govern. In other words, the Aries/Libra polarity section will have the 1st/7th houses. To accurately get a read on one’s Lunar Node placements, you should not only look at their signs, but also their houses.
I found that I appreciated the easily understood layout, but I will offer one caveat to the Novice Astrologer: make sure you also look at what house your nodes are in, and go to the appropriate section. For example, my North Node is in Sagittarius in the 5th house, and so, my South Node is in Gemini in the 11th house. Gemini rules the 3rd house, while Sagittarius rules the 9th; therefore, I need to look into the sections covering not only Sagittarius and Gemini, but also the section covering the signs of Leo and Aquarius, who traditionally govern the 5th and 11th houses. I hope this provides clarification of my point, in terms of the organization of the book.
As far as content is concerned, this book is an excellent go-to for past life work, and finding and embracing your purpose in this life. Turner-Schott and Ashman are two astrologers I’ve read other works from, and I’ve leaned on the knowledge they’ve so gratefully shared in their past works. Astrology’s Magical Nodes of the Moon is no different, and I will certainly use it in the future for reference, both personally, and also professionally in readings (an extra perk of having an e-book format accessible on your phone and/or e-reader). I picked this book up simply out of curiosity; I haven’t dove into the Lunar Nodes in my Astrological journey, but this book has put some fire into me to learn more, especially as the veil thins and the spirits can offer their input. Because of this, I give Astrology’s Magical Nodes of the Moon: Releasing the Past & Embracing the Future by Carmen Turner-Schott and Bernie Ashman a 5 out of 5; it’s an excellent resource for those interested in Astrology, with any level of experience and knowledge, allowing for personal insight, healing and transformation.
