The Vedic Tarot: East Meets West by Dwina Murphy-Gibb is an exquisitely illustrated Tarot deck that is the ultimate fusion of Eastern Philosophy and Western Esoteric Wisdom via the Tarot. In this 81 card deck, so many nuggets of wisdom are given, as these stunning cards not only feature Tarot symbolism, but also wisdom from Hinduism and the Vedas, as well as Hebrew Qabalistic correspondences, and, my favorite part, the Celtic Ogham Tree Alphabet is included, giving an extremely comprehensive picture of any situation life has. This deck gives higher spiritual perspectives through the Vedic wisdom, while also relating on a more subtle level through the Ogham wisdom and Hebrew and Western wisdom contained within traditional Tarot cards.

I’ll be honest, I was iffy about this deck at first, unsure of how it would all fit together, but to be honest, this is a deck I’ll be turning to for readings for myself (and I’m especially picky about the decks I use for myself), and even certain clients with complex or evolving life circumstances in need of some guidance. The diverse and complete, accurate picture these cards paint is paralleled by no other deck I own, and for this reason, I give The Vedic Tarot a 5 out of 5. This deck reads well with or without the inclusion of the 3 extra cards, as I personally prefer reading without them, and I’ve used the three extra cards as a focus for meditation with success. The guidebook that coincides with this amazing deck of cards is in full-color, and gives detailed descriptions of the artwork, divinatory meanings, Vedic Wisdom, Hebrew wisdom, Western and Tarot Wisdom, as well as Ogham and Musical wisdom for each card. I would suggest using the guidebook with this deck, as you’ll find that it shortens readings, I’ve even had a one card reading be detailed enough to be all I needed with this deck!

This is a deck well worth purchasing, as in my opinion it is the most complete occult deck of cards, containing a true picture on all levels of existence, of creation. Even without use of the guidebook, you’ll find that this deck serves you well as an ally in your spiritual journey, as it brings together higher spiritual truths, as well as more mundane truths about our earthly existence. All in all, this is a wonderful deck and I’d recommend it for any occultist or anyone interested in the deeper mysteries of Tarot. With the holidays coming up, this could be a wonderful gift for the Tarot reader in the family, and I’m sure it won’t disappoint coming in an eye appealing, sturdy and magnetically sealed box.
