    Learning Lenormand

Review Diana Clark’s Gaelic Lenormand Deck & Companion Guide I received this magical deck several months ago but several issues got in the way of my sitting down and writing a review of it – health issues, family issues – but I have been working with it and using it on a daily basis this entire time and I have to say that I LOVE THIS DECK. Especially now that I’m watching “Outlander” on Netflix – and reading the books by Diana Galbadon – so these cards provide the perfect imagery for where my head is right now. No – you won’t see pictures of the exquisite Caitriona Balfe, who…

    Learning Lenormand

Dreaming Lenormand I remember when I started learning reading Tarot cards over thirty years ago. I had a deck of Rider-Waite cards and I would lay out one of several spreads on a daily basis – usually a Celtic Cross – but sometimes a Horoscope Spread or a Tree of Life Spread or some other spread I had just read about in a book I had just gotten out from the library. My diary is filled with these readings – some are ridiculously lame – since I obviously had no idea what the cards truly “meant” and I was simply quoting what the “little book” said, trying to fit the…

Learning Lenormand Reviews – The Fairy Tale Lenormand Deck

The Fairy Tale Lenormand This is one of the most adorable deck of cards I have ever seen in any form – be it Lenormand, Tarot, Oracle, or just a deck of playing cards! Published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. (www.usgamesinc.com), with artwork by the very talented Lisa Hunt and with a booklet written by Arwen Lynch, this set of Lenormand cards is sure to delight any level of practitioner. As someone who is still at a beginner’s level (I admit it), I think it would be great for someone who is learning the basics of Lenormand or who is just beyond the basics. And I love the little tin.…

Book Review – Hex Your Ex: And 100+ Other Spells to Right Wrongs and Banish Bad Luck for Good

Book Review Hex Your Ex And 100+ Other Spells to Right Wrongs and Banish Bad Luck for Good I sat and read this cute little book the other day and I thought what a wonderful book it was. Published by Adams Media and filled with all kinds of useful facts and magickal acts, it’s one of those go-to books that any witch would want to have on her shelf, whether she is a beginning practitioner or an old conjuress. It has love spells, money spells, work spells, healing spells, and protection spells, as well as advice on timing your spell-work and what tools and ingredients you’ll need. For someone who…

Book Review – The Numerology Handbook: Uncover your Destiny and Manifest Your Future with the Power of Numbers by Tania Gabrielle

Book Review The Numerology Handbook Uncover your Destiny and Manifest Your Future with the Power of Numbers by Tania Gabrielle I tend to forget about numerology. I’m not sure why – it’s a main component of such divination methods such as the Tarot and certain Oracle card systems and divining by Dominoes and playing cards – but perhaps that’s why I do forget about it. And although I have divination books that have a chapter about numerology in them and I have notes on numerology in my personal Book of Shadows, this little book, titled The Numerology Handbook: Uncover your Destiny and Manifest Your Future with the Power of Numbers,…

Book Review – Conjuring Harriet “Mama Moses” Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad by Witchdoctor Utu

Book Review Conjuring Harriet “Mama Moses” Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad by Witchdoctor Utu I know that there are going to be many glowing reviews of this fabulous book, published earlier this year by Weiser Books, an imprint of Red Wheel/Weiser. There is so much in this incredible book – history, biography, herbal knowledge, rituals, occult secrets, Voodoo and Hoodoo and Christianity too! When I had just finished reading the book, I sat and thought about how to write this review. I fell asleep or maybe just into a trance but … I had a dream about Harriet Tubman. In it, she was very old – like…

Packing Up To Move It’s still only February as I write this but in ten days it’ll be the first Monday of March and I will be moving into a new apartment. I am so excited but I have to admit that I am just a bit overwhelmed! I have all of my books packed and most of my fine china and collectibles. I still have to pack up my kitchen – except for what I’ll need on a daily basis until moving day. And all my pictures will have to come off the walls here. There were lots of holes punched in the walls in this place I’m in…

Book Review – Shaman Express by Beretta Rousseau

Book Review Shaman Express by Beretta Rousseau Short review: I hated this book. Let me say right off the bat that I am the wrong person to be reviewing this book. I am going to be fifty-nine this year; I am a die-hard radical feminist; I have been in recovery for almost thirty years now; I read the entire canon of Carlos Castanedas over forty years ago; I grew out of this kind of “using drugs to find spiritual enlightenment” bullshit before the age of THIRTY. To be honest, I might have liked this book – a whole lot – when I was twenty-one or so – but that was…

    The Kitchen Witch

Baking Basic Bread I absolutely adore baking bread. To me, there is nothing more magical than the mixing of yeast and water and flour and sugar and salt to make a loaf of something nourishing and nutritious. If you have only had “Wonder Bread”-type bread, then you don’t know how fabulous real bread can be. I usually invoke Isis before I start a batch of bread. To me, Isis is the preeminent goddess of bread. According to Patricia Telesco, the Egyptians were the originators of leavening to make bread rise and that they had over thirty different kinds of breads. (Telesco, 53). They were also adept at brewing beer, which…

    The Sober Pagan

The Universe Has Your Back … and More! One of the gifts I received at Yule was a set of meditation cards entitled “The Universe Has Your Back”. Beautifully designed by Gabrielle Bernstein, with artwork by Micaela Ezra, these are some of the loveliest cards I have ever seen. I was first going to review them for “Seeing the Signs” but after looking through them thoroughly, I realized that they weren’t divinatory in the classic sense but rather meant just for mediation. Not that Tarot cards, Lenormard cards and Oracle cards can’t be used for meditation – we all know that all these cards can be used very effectively as…
