Book Review – Witch, Please: Empowerment and Enlightenment for the Modern Mystic by Victoria Maxwell

Book Review Witch, Please: Empowerment and Enlightenment for the Modern Mystic  by Victoria Maxwell Published by Red Wheel208 Pages Published: March 2022     “When we start getting into magical work we often get so carried away with the magic, connection to spirit and high- vibe feelings that we forget to ground ourselves in the here and now. But grounding is incredibly important. If we don’t stay grounded, our magic has nowhere to anchor itself. We can try to manifest amazing things in our lives, but if we aren’t present in our own bodies and in our own lives, that magic has nowhere to go. Or sometimes what happens is…

What Are the Magickal Arts? When I began this column for PaganPagesOrg many years ago, I had a vision of filling it with writings focused on exploring the magickal weavings of artistic endeavor. One of my children is a trained fine artist, another is a classically trained musician, and all five of my children are excellent writers and artists in their own rights including the sciences- a pediatrician, a biomedical engineer and a veterinarian. As the years continued forward I have come to using the term Magickal Arts as an expression of the artistic and refined nature the Craft requires. As magickal…

Time To See With A Fresh Perspective     This time of the year always feels ripe with possibilities, so I decided to offer an excerpt from one of my books as inspiration to begin a new astrological year (with the heralding of Aries) as a study in the changing energies and potential held as the Sun stations from one astrological sign into the next.   In the February Issue we explored The Magick of Pisces and I would like to continue that exploration as the astrological wheel begins anew with Aries….   *Excerpted from: The Temple of the Sun-An Astrological Solar Year. Book Review Hekate: Goddess of Witches by Courtney Weber Published by Moon Books 224 Pages Published: August 1, 2021       “…Who is Hekate? Like many goddesses of the Old World, Hekate’s origins are mysterious. She is commonly known as a goddess of ancient Greece, a period which is generally understood to encompass 1200 BCE–500 CE, but she did not originate there. She may have originated in the Minoan civilization (2700–1100 BCE), or was at least influenced by gods of that culture. Evidence of Hekate worship has also been found in Sicily, Libya, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Syria. The town of Lagina is thought to be home to her most…

The Magick of Pisces February 18 – March 20     I have a great many interests and astrology is one of the top runners on my list. I thought it would be fun to explore a little bit about the little section of the Zodiac that carries the energy of a vision of humanity’s highest self (Aquarius) through the transition of Pisces gifts that flow into the boundless energy of a new turn of the Astrological Wheel (Aries). The star of this triune powerhouse is Pisces! To begin, let’s look at the timing of this post, February 1st. We are mid-point in the solar station of Aquarius and the…
