    Hally’s Hints

THE MARKET PLACE People are everywhere, walking in one direction and then another. They are tall; they are short; they are with their friends or with their families chatting amongst themselves oblivious of all that is around them, happily walking up and down framed aisles in a make-shift shed. The air is full of pungent, fresh and different aromas; mixing together to create smells of good and bad; like and dis-like. The sounds are vibrant and never-ending; aisle after aisle the sounds echo from the concrete ground seeming to become louder and louder to a point where the sound, the smell, the bumping of strangers all becomes too much. For…

    Faerie Wicca by Listening Owl

Listening-Owl has missed a perfectly good opportunity to enlighten the Wiccan and Faery communities by displaying subtle negative feelings toward the Celtic community, e.g. “Many books have been written about Irish and Celtic faerie traditions of the past. I’m not going there” (Listening-Owl, 2008, p.16). I find this statement quite peculiar in that quite a few of the sections in Faerie Wicca refer to the Celtic traditions such as Dryad Tree Magick, Glossary of Celtic Tree Ogham (Which was given us by the Faery King of the Tuatha de Danaan God Ogma), Help from the Dark Fae, as well as Sea Faerie Summoning. Personal views and prejudices over shadow throughout.…

    Wise Woman Traditions

You Can Have a Green Ally! Herbal medicine is people’s medicine. So why don’t more people use it? Because it can seem complicated and scary, for starters. That’s the reason I urge you to use herbal medicine simply — one herb at a time. And that’s a good reason to have a green ally: one plant that teaches you the fundamental principles of herbal medicine. Herbal medicine is spirit medicine as well as body medicine. Our green allies tend our souls along with our sores. So why don’t more books and courses talk about plant spirits? Or, if they do, why do they divorce it from herbal medicine? Because it’s…

    Tarot Sense

It is my opinion that once you have learned the symbolism in tarot, you can pick up and read almost any deck. No matter what the deck is that you pick up, there are certain basic symbols that will remain the same.  Each symbol will be discussed in depth separately to allow for through understanding. Since most of what I am drawing from for these articles comes from years of research and ultimately my own book of shadows, it is a good idea to print out what you find useful and add it into your own. The most basic of all symbolism is color. For our purposes, color is at…

    Celtic Awareness

What is the Ogham? And where do they come from? The Druid Ogham alphabet fits flawlessly into the mystic culture of the Celts. The rareness of the Ogham alphabet makes it easy to see why the Celta believe that it was bequested to them by the Tuatha de Danaan God Ogma (the God of Eloquence). The source of the Ogham is shadowed in mystery. Unclear as to where and when the ogham alphabet began to be used. It has been said that Julius Caesar, (first century BCE), aknoledged that druids used the Ogham in Gaul, nevertheless, scientistific research to date has not been able to find any evidence of Ogham…

    The Merry-Go-Round of Religion

“If God leads you to it, God will lead you through it.” I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that phrase and thought that the women in my life were more likely to be there for me as a guide than any man would be. Fifteen years ago, thinking that my father would be more accepting of me if I believed in his God, I told him what he wanted to hear. I would go to church once in a great while with friends, just so that I wouldn’t be a liar. I borrowed the Book of Psalms from my Grandfather and knew the very basics about the Bible.…

    Animal Wisdom

Connecting With The Heart Of Your Familiar One of the many things that we as witches strive for is to recognize the interconnectedness of everything. We look to the Goddess and God to show us the way. I am a hereditary psychic medium, animal communicator and have seen energy since I was thirteen. But even with these gifts, it took me a long while to discover the key to blending my energy with that of my familiar.  Animals are one of the best ways to connect with Divine energy for they are closest to Earth. They react instinctively and intuitively, their psychic connection is powerful and they are not guarded…

Pagan Parenting for the Under 5’s

In this month’s article I’d like to discuss life cycles and the wheel of life. It is up to us to teach our children about life cycles. We are born, we grow, we get older and we die. That is the life cycle in its most basic of terms. A child under 2 is too young for this discussion so this month’s article focuses on ages 2-5. Point out examples of the life cycle all around you, new babies, older kids, adult, older adults and the seniors. Remember that kids this age don’t have a good sense of time so if you point out an elderly person and say the…
