Crystal Clear
Love and Warmth During this time of year everything all around is decorated cheerfully in red and green. This is to bring happiness to our hearts during the dark winter season. We find earthly reasons to celebrate, bringing good cheer to one another with the joy of fun winter activities, and gift giving. Done properly giving is as wonderful as receiving. A stone which teaches us about both sides of this coin is rose quartz. With happiness and good cheer already in the air, rose quartz is a wonderful stone friend to share it with. Its lovely soft pink color is warming and pleasant to the eye. Its energy very…

Red Riding Hood
Once upon a time, I was hunting sheep. It was a dark and stormy night! Okay, actually it was a very nice sunny summer day. It is just that bad things aren’t supposed to happen on very nice sunny summer days. That is the way it should be anyway. On the particular pleasant day of which I’m speaking I was having myself a sheep lunch. It was so yummy! Even after all it cost me I still remember that succulent meat with fondness. Well fed and well cared for animals taste much better than those who are not. For the past week or so before I had the heavenly lunch…

Yule: A Festival of Light
Many cultures and faiths have winter celebrations that are really festivals of light. We don’t have to look far to find them. In our own time, we have Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanzaa. All of them feature brightly lit candles, holiday decorations, family gatherings, and gift exchanges, in an atmosphere of celebration and gratitude for the blessings of the year. Celebrations of light and the return of the sun stretch back into antiquity. Over four thousand years ago, the Egyptians celebrated the daily rising of Horus – god of the Sun. He was the child of Isis, Queen of the Immortals, and a Moon goddess. The Greeks and Romans also held…

This month’s article will be a bit short since this season is so busy, I’m sure you don’t have time to read a long article. What are your plans for Yule? Do you have set traditions that you do every year? Do you do a ritual? Have you just not gotten around to celebrating yet? If you’re anything like me, the Yule season is so busy you don’t do nearly as much as you’d like to, to celebrate. Don’t feel that you have to…

Let’s Spell it Out
Valley of the Yews November 22nd Ydalir (yew-dale) is a Norse holiday is under the ruler-ship of the god Ullr (pronounced “ool”). Also known as the “The Magnificent”, the “bow God” and sometimes the “Death God”; he is the god of skiing, archery, hunting, sports, combat, contests, sky, fertility, magick, sea, beauty and enchantment. He was thrown out of Asgard by Odhinn because the All-Father was jealous. His parentage differs on whom you ask, but he is said to be the brother of Ullin, son of Sif and the Step-son of Thor. He is responsible for justice and oaths were sworn on his ring, called the “ring of Ull”. He…

Embracing the Darkness
For when it comes, that shadow called night Upon a wave and beckoning lullaby When I alone greet darkness warmly Embracing those things that come alive For long the howling winds bring solace And skies that glow of amber moon Bade call to come and join the dance Embracing those things that are alive For casting glance in pools of water With eyes that shine of emeralds dark Barely covered with earthly cloak Embracing those things that came alive For burning desire of want to wander To ride the fearless call this eve Tresses met with caress of the darkness Embracing those things I am alive……..
