    Goddess in the Grove

Samhain The clouds gathered overhead, the full moon shone like a beacon on the brisk fall night. Cloaked figures gathered around a circle….a medicine wheel garden. Everyone wore a black cloak…everyone except the High Priestess, she wore a dark green cloak of the softest velveteen. Her features obscured by the drapes of the hood, she raised her arms to the heavens and called out to the Goddess she loved. The rest of the coven followed suit, raising their arms as if to gently lift down a sacred and treasured object from overhead. Their voices joined the high priestess’s in praise and reverence. Candles flickered and the winds inside the circle…

    Wise Woman Tradition

What’s Science Got to Do With It? Once upon a time, healing was considered an art. Healing was understood by all to be a complex interaction between the patient, the healer, the community of living people, the communities of the plants and animals (and insects and rocks and fish), the communities of the non-living people (such as ancestors, spirit guides, and archetypes) and that mysterious movement known by so many names: Creator, God/dess, All High. The healing arts included a keen knowledge of human behavior, a thorough knowledge of plants, a flair for the dramatic arts, especially singing/chanting and costuming/body painting, and a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry.…

    Crystal Song, Chapter 4

Chapter 4 She floated on a sea of warmth. Sai felt warm and connected to the life matrix. The worry she still felt because of the change in vibrations was not put to rest. She explored the inner matrix and asked repeatedly for the reason why wht matrix was changing. But the matrix had no answer. It was more concerned with replacing the energy she expended in healing the root cavern. It was hours later, after she had been restored, Sai emerged from the matrix. A soft wisper of movement brought Radmier to full attention. The girl he had followed into the cavern stired and woke from the embrace of…

Pagan Parenting for the Under 5’s

Hope your Samhain went well. This month I said I’d give you some fun, everyday type activities that you can do with your young children that have a Pagan or Mother Nature theme. Later on are some winter activities too. For the child under one, the only Pagan thing you can really do is to treat them right and keep them healthy to show that you have pure love for your child. You can however and should start introducing him to Mother Nature.  For six months and under I’d probably stick to looking at real nature from a distance and reading nature books or playing with nature toys that are…

    To Live Again

There are some things that just make you scratch your head and wonder and the year that I was a junior in High School we blundered up on one of them. To say that it was one of the strangest things that ever happened to either one of us is an understatement of epic proportions.  We were the youngest kids of youngest kids. Our grandparents were all born in the late 1870s to the mid 1880s. Papa was born in 1881 and Mama Carrie was born in 1888. That put us a whole generation, almost two generations closer to the 19th century than other kids our age – and had…

    Glue

We use you for glue Maybe for tape Use you for everything We take and take Use you to learn And for morals Ignoring our own Dying like coral Our seas are sick Our planet is weak We use everything Trickles become leaks If you could speak Would we change? Or would we ignore Suffering and pain Why not We are doing it now Our planet is screaming In swirls of dark clouds Her children are dying As we stand alone Immune from what we cause Until it’s our flesh and bone I hear you cry As I lie awake The future is told In past mistakes

    Author Nigel Suckling

Being a huge Fae Fan, when Nigel Suckling’s book Faeries of the Celtic Lands plopped on my desk I was very excited, but also very guarded.  Having read a variety of Faery books, I expected this book to be much the same….’historic’ tales of Faery encounters, a brief dictionary of the Fae & Fae Clans, a bit lacking and usually a bit wrong.  I was pleasantly surprised by Nigel Suckling’s Faeries.   Nigel takes us through the world of Fae that Fae Fans dream of entering.  So complete in his writing Nigel Suckling takes us through the world of Fae from historic records of their first appearance, to the Celtic deities…
