I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this beautiful book to review. It was written by Semra Haksever, and illustrated by Nes Vuckovic. Published in 2018 by Hattie Grant Books. This book is 160 pages long and is full of magical information and lots of spells & recipes you can use.

Upon opening the cover the first page states “ACTION + INTENTION= MAGIC”, and I know this book and I are gonna get along. This is a very aesthetically pleasing book in my opinion as well. It’s a small square hardback with all black, white and teal illustrations. Very nicely put together. As a book fanatic (kindle isn’t my jam- I love a book I can look at and hold in my hands) I love nothing more than having a gorgeous book on my bookshelf and being able to pull it out to follow a recipe or look up a correspondence. This is a nice addition to my magical bookshelf.

This book is conveniently broken into two main parts, the first is general information and introductions to many magical topics such as moon cycles, crystals, working with energy, smudging, herbs, pendulums and so on. This section gives the reader a basic understanding that’s very important to know before doing spellwork. I think the author included a good amount of info and great mixture of topics. If you want a quick read and easy to understand beginners book, this would be an excellent choice.

The second section is all of the fabulous spells, potions and recipes. I like how the book has all the recipes in one area so it’s easy to locate. I can flip through just that section if I want to peruse through the different options and get inspired. If I’m looking for a specific type of potion, say to draw luck, I can easily find it, and I also like that her recipes don’t have too many ingredients. Nothing is more frustrating than getting excited to follow a recipe in a book only to realize you don’t have half of the ingredients, or you don’t have a clue where to find them. This book is very user friendly and most recipes you can make with stuff you have on hand or it can be easily found.

I think this book is a great one for beginners and I also think more experienced magical folks can gain much from the content. It was a very enjoyable and fast read and I look forward to trying many of the recipes in the near future. I love the look of this book, the illustrations and the overall vibe. I highly recommend anyone to check this gorgeous book out.
