This book was an absolute joy to read. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in herbs. The illustrations and colors are lovely. Information is concise. A balance between informative, practical, magical, historical and folklore. This is a great reference for those wishing to expand culinary, magical and gardening knowledge.

One of my favorite illustrations shows you what to sow during what part of the year. Many of us mistakenly think of Spring and Summer as the only growing season. However, there are winter vegetables and crops that need the cold earth of Winter to come to fruition in Spring. The list of supplies needed to garden is simple to compile for any budget.

Nestled in between information on 100 plants are facts on:

  • Collecting seeds
  • Making an Herb Garden
  • Harvesting and Preserving Herbs
  • The Joy of Compost
  • In the Hedgerow
  • Drying Flowers and Seed Heads
  • Gardening by the Moon
  • A Bowl of Scented Loveliness: Potpourri
  • Notions: Magical Makes
  • In the Flower Garden
  • Potions: Folk Medicine
  • Tisane: Healthy, Happy Drinks
  • Lotions: Plant Beauty
  • Make a Seed Mandala
