MagickalARTS
You Take the High Road and I’ll Take the Low Road…. This month, I would like to have us give consideration to the type of magick we practice. We are entering a New Year and the potential held in crossing those Gates into a new way of experiencing Magick is ripe and ready. Before we can define what we practice, we need to know what some of the definitive properties are and what the effects could be. There is some debate over what the definition of Operative Magick is and the tag lines of Practical, High and Low Magick associated with its definition. Moreover, the term High and…

A Moment for Meditation
Mantras As someone who has been teaching Kundalini Yoga for 17 years, I think mantra has been the things I have been most leery of teaching. Most people do not understand it, even when it is explained. I have had students refuse to use mantra at all. Even though yoga and meditation are secular and can be done by anyone regardless of religion, some felt it went against theirs and were very uncomfortable with it. I understand all of the reasoning behind why they did not wish to do it. In my OWN PERSONAL OPINION, I feel the real reason behind their refusal was fear. They think mantra is different…

Tink About It
Farewell to Kyra On November 30th a wonderful woman passed over to the Summerlands. Kyra was my HPs, my initiator, but first and foremost she was a dear friend. Although most of you reading this didn’t know her, I want to share some stories and thoughts about her. When I met her for the first time some years ago, she was already diagnosed with Hodgkin’s. It came back several times and even then she was already living on borrowed time. That didn’t stop her from fighting, on the contrary! She has been a fighter until the end. She tried alternative methods, special diets, everything within reach that looked…

Notes from the Apothecary
Notes from the Apothecary: Sage Welcome to my new column, Notes from the Apothecary! Each month I’ll be talking about a different herb or plant. Some will be familiar to you, some may not, but I hope you will always find out something new and interesting, that will help you increase your medicinal and magical knowledge. Not much is still lively in my garden in late November, but the one plant that never seems to give up is my beautiful, purple tinged sage. You only have to brush your fingers against the slightly rough leaves to produce an aroma that is at once appetising and mystical. Sage has been…

Spellcrafting: Spells and Rituals
Own it Merry meet! January 20th’s new moon in Aquarius is all about change. Radical change. To manifest that change, there can be no doubt, no second-guessing, no half-hearted attempts. Harness the power of this new moon and claim your new life. You are deserving. Step out of the prison of unhealthy relationships, behaviors and attitudes. Let go of your insecurities, pain, sadness and anger. Let your spirit soar to places you never dared to go. I have come to understand that the best way to move from where I am to where I want to be is not to desire it, but to own it. When we come from…

Renee’s Thoughts Worth Catching
Oya, also known as Kale or Pele, is the Goddess of Change and Transformation, and this Goddess means business. Spiritually speaking, she embodies the qualities of Radical transformation, releasing, dying to the old to embrace the new. She embodies wind, graveyards, storms, and yes, the market place! I have a great and grand fondness with this Goddess. I will admit, at first, with the death talk, and the letting go and change, made me all shift in my seat and take a step back. I believe, that for me, I was so used to the life created around me, that no matter how much I needed and had to change,…

Witchcrafting: Crafts for Witches
Candle Crafting Merry meet! Candles are a symbol of Imbolc, which is also known as Candlemas. With some advance planning, you could make your own this year. The easiest way is to buy beeswax sheets and roll of square-braid wick. (The larger the finished candle will be, the larger size wick you’ll want.) You simply cut the sheet as wide as you want the height of the candle to be. A straight edge and a craft knife work well, but other items in your kitchen will also suffice. Cut the wick about an inch longer than the wax. With a blow dryer, warm up one end…

Dear Jules
Hello Jules, I would really like to know how to let go. Let go of sadness, anger, any/all negativity. Thank you for your time. Letting Go Dear Letting Go, I think that acceptance plays a big part on the road to letting go. Our lives feel lighter and more manageable when we take the time to accept ourselves, our lives, our pasts, presents and futures, our fears, anger, negativity and positive emotions as well. I think it is important especially to take the time to accept the current situation that we are dealing with. Through acceptance we are able to let go of the things that weigh us down. Joseph…
