Beginning of the End

July, 2006

I choose a path different from most.

You may not agree with my choice,

But it is a journey I must take.

For real truth is from my inner voice.

Day by day I learn right from wrong.

I have found your wrong to be right.

I have found your right to be wrong.

For my guide with offer true sight.

With each day I set a new course.

My true destination has no end,

Where it leads I care not at all.

Seeking the end is where I begin.

Fearing Darkness

July, 2006

As the sun sets on the Western horizon

The sky fills with an eerie blood-red glow.

Shapes and shadows begin to shift about

Causing weary and fearful eyes to grow.

Red to black, darkness engulfs the night.

Evil awakens from within its hidden recesses

Looking to prey on the innocent and unaware,

Filling every need and boasting all successes.

Lurking in the shadows, hovering above,

Waiting for a victim, as to draw first blood.

Holding its victim in a tight embrace,

Watching all life drain like a rapid flood.

Darkness does only what darkness is meant to do.

The circle of life does not mean circle of light.

Day is to the night as the night is to the day,

The world spins by day as well as by night.

The price is paid as innocent blood is spilled.

The price is high, but well worth the wait.

But many do not understand what darkness holds,

Being afraid is their excuse to kill and hate.

Gothic Expression

July, 2006

The Gothic Poet walks down the street

And stops at the bus stop

She posts one of her poems for all to see

“What do you make of me”

“Am I a freak or am I oh so chic?”

“Dressed in black – am I a tiger or a pussycat?”

“Read my words and you will see”

“A deeper soul lies within me”

She sits at home and paints her self-portrait

Slightly distorted – this is the way she is viewed by the world

She walks on down to the art gallery

And posts her portrait at the entrance door

“Do you want more?”

“You will see more reality in this picture”

“Than anything that lies behind this door”

“Open your eyes and you will see”

“All God’s beauty”

She lies on her bed at home

Waiting for a reaction

Bu the passers-by fail to express any emotion

Too wrapped up in their own worlds

In God and man we place our trust

Another creative soul bites the dust

Norse Maiden of Fire

July, 2006

Anhe of yonder days-of gold and red braids,

Sad memeories recalled, her tearful tribute pays

Green eyed cat maid, fair faced, now fades.

where her light shone, the bliss of bygone days.

She weeps unseen, of grief and lost life,

tears of faceless fears and hopeless pain,

moaning in faint echo’s her misery and strife.

tears flowing leaving her eyes bloodstain,

She crys to you, one of Odin’s descent,

to end her tragic delimma and woes,

cast for her- magical enchancement

of deep and heavy prefumed prose.

be her long lost dead dream lover,

savior and knightly defender

be her saint, hope, path to recover,

be her desire and dark cinder.

Give back her angelic soul,

take away miseries hand

revenge be hers and

let a new justice stand.

Souls Without Names

July, 2006

The fires of Hell burn bright

In the middle of the night

Waiting for an angel to fall

No hope of salvation at all

A poor lost soul

Is swallowed up whole

Consumed in the flames

They are souls without names

The fires are ablaze

In this fiendish maze

Consumed by guilt and shame

There is no one else to blame

The fires are aglow

As you sink so low

The Devil has cast his spell

You face eternity in Hell

Link (Anthony)
6538 Collins Avenue,
#255 Miami Beach, FL 33141
USA

People often ask me why I chose the name Link. One important lesson for me this time around is to understand how all things “interconnect” — like noodles in the same cosmic broth. (Okay, I also wanted a really simple name that would not raise eye-brows in a mundane setting. Something like RunningBuffaloMoonFeather just doesn’t fit me…)

Most of my writing focuses on how ordinary parts of everyday life can be sacred and magical. Being ordinary makes them no less special! I try to erase the lines that separate spirituality from the rest of life. I don’t spend too much time in elaborate ritual, but rather see nearly every action as a magical event, from slicing an apple to licking an envelope. I often encourage readers to not blindly follow traditional spoon-fed teachings, but to discover what feels right for themselves, and for the moment. The most important Book we could ever find is written deep within ourselves, and within nature — and every day we turn a new page!

I grew up in a small suburban NJ town, the youngest child of two hard-working parents. I survived 12 years of Catholic school, which helped shape my “everyday” spiritual views (With the nuns of Saint Mary’s School, everything was a religious experience – from lunch to recess to taking tests and doing homework.) While I shed much of what I learned there, I think a few things stuck.

I began learning about alternative religion, divination and magic in the mid-1970’s, but did not really become active in the Craft until 1993 (what I call reaching “Spiritual Puberty”). My first teacher was a dear friend and neighbor, a Gardnerian 3rd Degree, who was killed in a car accident in 1984. (Great guy, lousy driver…) In 1993 I became a member of a small Tradition with only a few members spread out around the US. This gave me the opportunity to spend time with/learn from elders well-recognized in the Community. I have also been a member of Covenant of the Goddess, Pagan Federation International, Earth Spirit, Circle Network, Free Spirit Alliance, Pagan Federation International and ADF. I am legally certified as clergy with both Covenant of the Goddess and ULC (for whatever that means). My work has been published in many places throughout the US, plus Canada, England, Ireland, Holland and Australia.

Jobwise, I have worked for/with large international telecommunications companies since 1984. (Again, a lesson in how things connect…) I hold a bachelors degree in Communications/Journalism, and a masters degree in business and government policy. I moved from New Jersey to Miami Beach, Florida on August 1, 2001 and enjoy Miami’s internationally diverse culture, with a Latin spice!

Fun? I enjoy good food and good wine, bad humor, camping, gardening, traveling, almost anything Brazilian, the Ocean, SciFi, and sleeping late at least once a week.

The Sacred Circle

July, 2006

In the sacred circle gather ‘round

Where lost spirits are once ‘gain found

With no beginning there can be no end

Look outside yourself and call me “friend”

When the daylight darkens and night falls swift

When the skies are gray and the snow does drift

In the circle there is hope and light

To push back the fear of winter’s night

When the days grow long and all is light

the circle radiates with all its might

our joy and gladness become our shield

and a mighty power we can wield

Come to the circle, feel the wisdom rise

All here are welcome, love is the cord that ties

Gather round in a circle, the sacred wheel

Know the love that binds us is all that’s real

All despair and anger will fall from you

As you gather hope and know it is true

For hope is the light in the darkest place

It’s the music whirling in outer space

It’s the peace within us, the silent dove

That cleanses our hearts so we can love

So in the sacred circle gather ‘round

Where lost spirits are once ‘gain found

With no beginning there can be no end

Look outside yourself and call me “friend”

Mariposa is a UU Pagan of 8 years duration. She spends much of her time reading, playing Celitc harp, and writing poetry. She calls her method of writing "Muse-inspired", as she writes the poem complete and whole at one sitting with, usually, only very minor changes. Also, if she gets "inspired" she must right down the poem at once or she "loses it". Mariposa currently holds the Office of Spirit for the Church of the Sacred Circle in Salt Lake City, and is also clergyperson of that pagan church. She hopes to get training to become a volunteer for the "No One Dies Alone" hospice program that sits with dying patients when family and friends are not available.

Jesus, King Arthur, and the Journey of the Grail

Author: Maurice Cotterell

Bear & Co. 2006

Pages: 223

ISBN: 1591430534

This book was so hard for me to get involved in. The more I read, the more bored I became and I found myself putting it down more times than I picked it up. The entire book reminded of a knock off of The DaVinci Code. I mean, the content while different as this book literally was about the Grail, the ‘idea’, the ‘plot’ per say was the same to me as The DaVinci Code. I don’t like reading knock off books and this one will not be going on my book shelf. Perhaps had I not read the DaVinci Code I would have had great interest in this but I really felt like this was a form of a copy cat book.

The Knights Templar in the Golden Age of Spain

Author: Juan Garcia Atienza

Destiny Books

English translation copyright 2006

Pages: 226

ISBN: 1594770980

This book is about the rise and fall of the Knights Templar. A good read. I do feel it dragged out in some parts but I did like it. I found it fascinating to learn so much information about such a secret society. It was interesting how even so long ago, there was corruption, blackmailing, secrecy and power given to people that the more common folk were unaware existed. While reading this, it reminded very much of our government organizations of today, i.e. CIA, FBI and of orders such as the Masons, except for the fact, that those organizations of power still exist today.

The Benham Book of Palmistry

Author: William G. Benham

Career Press/New Age Books 2006

Pages: 378

ISBN: 1564148556

If you are new to Palmistry, this is not the book for you. While this book gives an abundance of information, it is just that that caused me to not like this book. There is too much information given. The writer is just in a constant flow of information, not just with words but pictures and there were times I became so confused that I ended up rereading pages over and over before I grasped what I was reading. This book I feel should have been broken down into a series of books on Palmistry instead of shoving all the information into this text. If you are a practioner of Palmistry, this might be the book for you but for a person such as me who knows nothing about Palmistry, this book made my head spin. Too much information to take in, too much to understand, too overwhelming.
