The Art of Flower Therapy: A Comprehensive Guide to Using The Energy of Flowers to Heal, Thrive, and Live a Vibrant Life by Dina Saalisi is a 142 page book published by Red Feather Mind Body Spirit Publishing, an imprint of Schiffer Publishing, of which I received an e-book copy. The Art of Flower Therapy covers the basics of using the Bach Flower remedies to heal emotional ailments that can then improve physical conditions, via the Mind/Body/Spirit connection. Saalisi starts off by covering succinctly the history and uses of the Bach Flower remedies, as well as dosages, combinations, and basic how-to knowledge for newbie Bach Flower remedy users (of which I am one). Saalisi then goes on to cover the 7 basic emotional states set out by Bach when developing his system, followed by a section covering the “Emergency Remedy” for severe, acute ailments. After this, Saalisi then discusses the ongoing journey of Flower Therapy; rather than healing the symptom, she suggests finding the emotional/psychological root of it, and what you’re feeling instead of the traditional Western treatment of treating symptoms. At the end of the book, Saalisi offers an index and resources, including websites to purchase flower remedies from to use with the information presented in the book.

Personal Thoughts on The Art of Flower Therapy

Several books I’ve read, including one I reviewed previously, Healing Pluto Problems, mentioned the Bach Flower remedies, but I had only heard mention of them, and using them or even finding them was somewhat obscured for me. The Art of Flower Therapy totally de-mystified the whole process for me. I appreciated Saalisi’s easy to understand way of writing, making the base emotional conditions of Bach’s system more relatable through examples in the section headers, then listing the flower remedy to use for such conditions. I also found that Saalisi provided meaningful prompts to diagnose yourself, as well as different recipes for making formulas for yourself, others, and even your pets! I’ve been interested in botanicals for years, but this is taking it to a new level for me, personally, and I plan to purchase a few Bach Remedies for myself. If you want to find a natural, holistic way to improve your mindset, and possibly assist in healing other ailments, this may be the route for you. On a scale of 1-5, I give The Art of Flower Therapy a 5; those starting out with Flower Remedies will find the information accessible, easily understandable, and will appreciate Saalisi’s warm, inviting and honest writing. Those even with more experience will potentially find something of value within this book’s pages. I would recommend this book to those curious about, or wanting to begin, a path of holistic, natural healing with the Bach Flower remedies.
