For Your Deliberation
It takes a village to help an idiot! And here are some of the townies who make me look good twice a month!
Mihos. I’ve mentioned him a lot in this column. And with good reason. He’s my Renaissance man. And he’ll be penning his own column in PaganPages real soon! (Watch for Crystal Clear!)
Hershey. My go-to guy for all things Spanish. He’s fluent, I’ve got the working vocabulary of a grade schooler. Maybe a preschooler…
Crystal. Hershey’s partner and lady love. One of the quickest and smartest people I know. I seek out her advice quite often.
The Brain. This guy’s one of my three electronic whizzes. I’ve yet to see him stymied.
Namor. My second tech guy. Plus, he laughs at all of my jokes.
Sparkle. Last but never least, the love of my life! She puts significance in “significant other”.
Why yes, these are coven names and nicknames. And no, the Submariner has never worked on my computer. (Sheesh!)
Sounds Like Salem, Part Three, Conclusion: A Determination of Witches
The trials were held between February 1692 and May 1693. Over two hundred people were accused. Thirty were found guilty, and nineteen of those were executed by hanging. Five were men and fourteen were women. Another man, Giles Corey, was tortured to death. Five or more people met their ends in foul jail cells.
Could it happen again? My gods, it happens all the time. Someone will cry, “A witch, a witch,” and the horror begins. The frenzy doesn’t have to have a supernatural flavor, any shabby excuse will do. Differences, real or imagined. Jealousy. Misogyny. Ageism, racism.
This isn’t something confined to history books.
Salem is with us today.

MUSIC Review: Lakeside
Lakeside is an American funk band, active since 1969 right up to today. They’re best known for their R&B number one hit “Fantastic Voyage” in 1980. (Look up the video online!) They like to dress up: album covers have shown them as cowboys, pirates and genies, among other things.
I like them. Their range stretches from kicka*s to smooth as silk.
My verdict: 4 1/2 broomsticks.
