As Above, So Below (How the Stars Became Our Hearts)

Seasons Blessings!     Moving into this period of darkness and the first snows begin to fall. I come to this place of contemplation. And as with the last few pieces, I’ll lose my 3rd person textbook voice. This piece will be a bit meta, as, yes, it’s snowing and I just now started this. Lol. And I said “Lol”. And I said that I said. This message is a download, heavy on my heart with these past moons. A lesson that’s been delivered to me through my personal life, and I feel the need to share.  Blessed Samhain.  What a strange season it has been, closing with a lunar…

The 57th Annual Country Music Awards Bright Blessings! This time, I am reviewing something that is quite different from anything else I have reviewed before- the Country Music Awards ceremony from November 9, 2022. You might not think such a program was magical, but it was, and I will tell you why. First, watch one of the performances here:   (33) This Performance by Chris Stapleton and Patty Loveless Will Give You Goosebumps | LIVE @ CMA Awards – YouTube   This particular performance of You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive that was at the awards has been a work in progress since at least 1997 when the song was…

    Focus Pocus

My Life is Not a Greek Drama, but Thank You Anyway Eris     During my year-long journey reading the Iliad and the Odyssey as part of Jack Grayle’s course Godsong, I noticed the way I perceive some of the gods in the stories differently than when I studied the texts when I was in college. Over the years life experience and therapy has shaped how I understand the actions of others and recently I found myself relating to the Goddess of Strife in a way I never expected. She is referred to as Strife in the Iliad Book 4, “whose fury never tires, sister and friend of murderous Ares,…

    Witch Hunt

There are witches all around us. You can find them anywhere… The Witch on Wheels has been documenting her findings.   Meet: Catherine LaForza   Catherine is a 60-year-old Witch, a warm glass artist, caregiver, Grammy and Death Midwife who has been a practicing pagan since 1990. We connected this summer when I was in Connecticut. She’s a caregiver to her husband who has not only survived, but thrives as a 20-year heart transplant recipient. Their experiences dancing on the edge of Death has led her to train as a Death midwife. Birth and Death are spokes on the same wheel; both are initiations and transitions. Death midwifery sits…

As Above, So Below (How the Stars Became Our Hearts)

Does the Universe Care? Throughout the ages, human consciousness has sought to scratch the surface of reality, and those who are able get peek behind the scenes have a different takeaway. For every NDE (near death experience) where a person claims to have seen god and a universe beyond understanding and been reunited with loved ones, you have a claim of those who saw nothing at all. Locally, with experiences like church and psychedelics, some report profound experiences, other’s experience profound boredom. If you dig deeper into the wisdom of the sages, you’ll still be disappointed. While it is popular to believe great minds think alike, it would seem they…

    Abroad at Samhain

A New Samhain Poem by Mabh Savage Exclusive to PaganPagesOrg     A halfway house Twixt autumn and winter Cold for us Frozen for others Yet warm and barely golden For some. So many different Samhains So many calls to the dead So many nods to ancestors Mentors Friends of fur and feather Or those family we chose For ourselves. Wherever in the world You celebrate the turn Towards darkness Remember turnips Painstakingly carved Apple peels thrown over shoulders Candles lit while looking in the mirror The butter and cream left out For those who come Perhaps uninvited But never spurned or mocked. Be safe Walk well Ward well Hold…

Allah: The Stolen God of the Phoenicians

Allah: The Stolen God of the Phoenicians “Allah”, an Arabic name – feared and loved by some, severally misunderstood by many – spoken by the Jews, Christians, and Muslims of the Middle-East. Though mostly affiliated to those of the Abrahamic religion, the actual word “Allah” is a contraction of “al Ilah”, which literally means The God. While the Muslims believe that the word Allah was spoken and written by God himself in Arabic in the Quran (which is why all Muslims, no matter what nationality they are from, tend to use the name Allah in Arabic since they believe that God spoke Arabic thus the actual word God does not…

You are Not My Mother Bright Blessings Film Lovers! I am reviewing an amazing film made in Ireland that will scare your socks off and remind you that magic is real, and we had better pay attention when magical forces are eating away at us. I have to say this is literally one of the best films I have seen in a while and I cannot recommend it enough. It is called You Are Not My Mother, and it was released in 2021 starring Hazel Doupe, Carolyn Bracken, and Ingrid Craigie. Here is a trailer to watch:     It is based on a very old folk belief from…

    Witch Hunt

There are witches all around us. You can find them anywhere… The Witch on Wheels has been documenting her findings.   Meet: Kathleen Kfrey     Kathleen lived about a mile from my condo, yet I had to leave to meet her. I did a three-card tarot reading for her on Christmas 2020 and we have stayed in touch through tough times, and now both of our lives are transitioning. We meet when I’m in Connecticut, and found we have lots more in common in addition to the Craft. We’ve gone thrifting, shopped tag sales, and shared meals. She’s offered help with painting tie-dyed-looking stripes on Karma and other…
