Book Reviews – The Only Books You Will Ever Need: 3 Titles From the Plain & Simple Series
There is a series of books titled, “Plain & Simple, The Only Book You will Ever Need”. I have three of these that I would like to review together, in that they are part of a growing series. The first one I will review is “Chakras, Plain & Simple” by Sasha Fenton. The book begins with an introduction to the chakras, what they are, and how they work. From there, there is a chapter on each chakra with description, purpose, benefits of each when healthy and each includes an exercise for the specific chakra. How to heal your chakra is next discussed, bringing them into balance using colors, crystals, oils,…

A Spring Equinox Ritual
Here are some words from a Spring Equinox Ritual performed between three witches with a focus on the Morrígan. You could speak the words on your own, or with a group, and you can decorate your sacred space with flowers or appropriate tools, depending on your path. I’ve left out any specific calls or hails, as you can add these as appropriate to your own beliefs. You will need an object or symbol that is important to you at this time of year, a seed, and a pot of soil (per person.) Spirits of East, creatures of air Light of the bright morning, Venus on the horizon Warm winds chasing…

Druidry as a Path of Enlightenment I’ve seen a number of articles debating this topic, and I very much want to say that my own solitary druid path has been nothing but a path to enlightenment! An email from an acquaintance recently said how she was interested in druidry but didn’t know how to integrate it into her life. Well, my own path is the easiest thing in the world to integrate into anyone’s life because it’s so simple. I went to a school to learn energy healing 23 years ago and since then, I’ve done two half-hour meditations a day. The first one, in the morning, is when I…

GoodGod!
Meet the Gods: Jarilo (https://www.slavorum.org/) Merry meet. While Ostara (also called Eostre and Eastre) is the Germanic goddess of spring and dawn, there appears to be no equivalent Germanic god of spring. There is, however, a handsome, young Slavic god of spring and fertility – Jarilo. He was born on the night of the Slavic new year and was the tenth son of Perun, the god of thunder. Veles, the Slavic god of the Underworld, kidnapped Jarilo from his cradle. As a result, winter overtook the land. Vegetation died and fertility was suspended. Jarilo escaped, arriving home in spring at which time flowers bloomed, birds sang and fertility festivals (some…

Book Review – Protection Spells: Clear Negative Energy, Banish Unhealthy Influences and Embrace Your Power by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
Book ReviewProtection SpellsClear Negative Energy, Banish Unhealthy Influences and Embrace Your Power by Arin Murphy-HiscockPublished by Adams Media224 Pages The first thing that catches your eye about this book is the strikingly beautiful cover, but as the saying goes “never judge a book by its cover.” In this case, I can say that the content is as impressive as the cover and you will not be disappointed in reading and owning this book. As a newcomer to the world of spellcrafting, I was pleased about the breakdown and content of the information in this book. The book is divided into three parts: Spellcrafting; Spells and Rituals; and Protective Objects. Part…

Gaia’s Mantle: The Greening of the Earth
(Wikimedia Commons, the free media repository) As Spring approaches and we find ourselves at another turn of the Great Wheel, opportunity abounds for making deeper connection to the natural world and Gaia’s greening of it. Gaia is seen as the maiden offering the promise of new life in a womb that is still developing and preparing for what will be birthed in full glory as the summer approaches and the peak of all living things is held in father sun’s gentle hold. It is Her sweet breath that breathes life into what lay in wait to be birthed and it is Her gentle hand that guides the process of renewal.…

Book Review – From Kuan Yin to Chairman Mao by Xueting Christine Ni
Book Review From Kuan Yin to Chairman Mao by Xueting Christine Ni Anyone who has sat down in a restaurant and ordered a dish of phoenix (chicken) or dragon (lobster) has experienced a taste of the poetry of Chinese language and culture. The richness of the cultural imagination, built upon millennia of continuous civilization, has created an incredible breadth of cast that makes the Chinese pantheon easily overwhelm the outsider looking for an easy entry point. When we look at the mythology of the Western world we are often encountering the pantheons of long past civilizations. Sifting through the strata of history, we encounter pieces of Roman, Nordic, Egyptian, or…

Crone’s Corner
We Are ALL Right I was sitting around a bonfire one Saturday night in early spring, pondering what will happen to me when I die – exactly. I brought out my flute, stared into the fire and I began to play. I played until I went somewhere else and was totally immersed in thinking about my Spirituality. Suddenly, I got this feeling of utter and complete weightlessness and I tell you honestly, for the first time in my entire life, I had a feeling of not only acceptance but genuine understanding. Here is the culmination of what I am now calling my “vision quest.” I was playing a song on…
