“Wellness Witch: Healing Potions, Soothing Spells, and Empowering Rituals for Magical Self-Care” is a lovingly crafted book of simple herbal remedies, self-care rituals, and spells for the mind, body, and home. Full of recipes for teas, tinctures, and other herbal preparations, “Wellness Witch” is a book whose focused approach is likely to appeal to experienced herbalists as well as novices.
This is not a particularly ambitious book, but it gathers together a short collection of personal care rituals, recipes, and spells, and the result is charming. “Wellness Witch” contains eclectic suggestions drawn from a wide cultural base, but seem to mostly center around Ayurvedic practices.
The book’s varied rituals also deal with candle magic, healing, divination (especially runes), manifestation, sigil magic, aromatherapy, yoga, and meditation. Unfortunately, these practices are dealt with so briefly that a casual practitioner is not likely to get a thorough working knowledge of any of these systems from this book alone, but that is why this is more of a gift book than a grimoire.
“Wellness Witch” is a book ideally suited to be given to a young person whose interest in craft is just blossoming, or a more established practitioner who may enjoy the addition to their library. It is unlikely to satisfy anyone who is looking for a complete treatise on herbal remedies and self-care, but it will almost certainly help someone who is just starting out to get their feet wet.
