Worth the Witch
Bit O’Magick Boxes: Luna-Magick Inside a very unassuming box are flaps enhanced with hand-drawn messages. Behind them was an assortment of herbs and a timely ritual – in this case, the full moon. They were selected by Mike Sexton who puts a bit of magick in every box. Hailing from Germany, for more than 20 years he has blended many different paths including ancient Egyptian, Celtic, and Norse to form his own practice. He sticks to his German roots. His business began with art and moved to graphic design. His Wiccan business began with a plushy owl poppet infused with magick. Soon he was doing custom…

Book Review – The Witch’s Book of Potions: The Power of Bubbling Brews, Simmering Infusions & Magical Elixirs by Michael Furie
Book Review The Witch’s Book of Potions The Power of Bubbling Brews, Simmering Infusions & Magical Elixirs by Michael Furie Publisher: Llewellyn Worldwide 260 Pages Publication Date: 2/08/21 As a child, Michael Furie would stir together “potions” of cooking spices and water, not knowing that potion- and brew-making would become a passion as an adult practicing witchcraft. “There is something so perfectly dramatic and innately magical about gathering various ingredients and combining them into a rich mixture of liquid; adding and stirring as fragrant steam rises from the bubbling cauldron,” he wrote in the book’s introduction. It’s as if it’s the very essence of magical witchcraft, and yet…

Witch & Popcorn
Review of My 600 Pound Life Bright Blessings! The show I am reviewing addresses sensitive topics: body image, health, and the identity all of this creates. Magically, it addresses transformation, and the fact magic is a process that takes time. It’s not flinging one spell, uttering a few words, or “putting the energy out to the Universe” and then going off and forgetting about it. My 600 Pound Life streams on Hulu, and my husband and I have watched several episodes. Multiple individuals open up to share their struggles, and successes with the public. Some allow people to see them nude. They allow camera crews into their everyday personal…

As Above So Below (How the Stars Became Our Hearts)
Mastery The air was brisk. A cold mist swept about. The wind kicked up ferociously, turning the mist into a billion freezing daggers. They pierced my flesh all over, burning like fire. A wave crashes below, and I see I am manning a castle wall. I give the signal. They blow the trumpets. As the trumpet blasts fill the air, the sky grows dark. At the tip of the castle, a giant pyramid built into the walls, into the beach. The base of the pyramid, into the sea. And as the trumpets blasted again; I see the monks come out. They sit in perfect rows on the…

Tarot Talk
Comparing The High Priestess and The Hierophant This month, we will stay within the Major Arcana and discuss a pairing that I briefly mentioned last month: The High Priestess and The Hierophant. First, let’s review some terms. If you’ve read my column before, you can skip the next paragraph. There are 22 Major Arcana cards in a Tarot deck, with numbers from 0 to 21; the Majors usually deal with broader and more far-reaching life experience issues, archetypes that are easy for us to identify with and connect with at some point in our lives. An archetype (pronounced “ark eh type”) is a generic, idealized model of a…

WitchCrafting: Crafts for Witches
Crafts for Witches: Black Salt Merry meet. Witches use black salt to absorb unfavorable energies, boost protection spells and guard against negativity. It is also used in cleansing, healing and banishing, making and breaking hexes, and casting powerful circles. I consider its energy somewhat stronger and different than that of white or pink salt. While you can buy it, it is better if you make your own. Most recipes for black salt are very much the same, and all will draw off negative energy and provide protection. You’ll want a mortar and pestle in which you will grind together your ingredients. I used a small cast…

Hekate Doll Transformation
So my one friend loves Hekate & I decided to make her a gift that she would love. I make custom dolls, but for some reason had never made a god or goddess, just creepy random dolls. But, I was up for the challenge. I used three different dolls to make up this one. I took the head from a snarky looking Barbie, the body of a Monster High doll that was missing her hands and then hands from a different Barbie. The first things I had to do was strip the doll doll down to it’s core. I removed the face with acetone and cut the hair…

Book Review In Focus Auras Your Personal Guide by Joylina Goodings Publisher: Wellfleet Press 144 Pages Publication Date: 1/12/21 From the Publisher…. …References to the aura can be traced back not only to the glowing halos of spiritual energy used by artists portraying Jesus and the saints, but also to even earlier religious traditions. In Focus: Auras Your Personal Guide by Joylina Goodings is part of the 11-book In Focus Series exploring a variety of…
