I will preface this review by saying that I am a fan of Lucy H. Pearce and Womancraft Publishing.
This book is more of a workbook than a “reading” book.
As women, we have much to deal with that affects, not only our bodies, but our minds and spirits, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually. We live in a world that diminishes us. We take care of everyone before we even think of ourselves, if we do, indeed, ever do take care of ourselves. We do not make ourselves a priority in our own lives. Our bodies are constantly changing, what with our moon-time cycle, pregnancy (if we choose it), menopause; we dismiss the effects of stress and tension.
This book changes that.
As Ms. Pearce states, “My intention for this workbook is to share a practical tool that enables you to have information about your inner world at your fingertips – to become aware of the tides and cycles within you – and also of the wider cycles which impact your body, mind and soul.”
I think the joy I found in this book is stopping and honoring my body, just as it, something I have been trying to incorporate in my life. Ms. Pearce helps me to do just that.
Many of us have chronic illness, mental health challenges, body image issues; the stress we deal with on a daily basis is overwhelming. Who has time to take a moment and look at ourselves.
This workbook will help you do this and more. It assists you in looking, really looking, at yourself and how you are truly feeling each day, not the face we show on social media.
Lucy instructs us on how to use her workbook, why we should use it and what it is for.
Its’ pages are filled with ways to track everything from your monthly cycle to your medications to your dreams. There are daily charts, monthly reviews, places to write or draw, places to dive into your spiritual self.
There are questions to answer, insights to explore; pages and pages to write your feelings, your energy level, your “full health”, because it is all of these parts that make up the whole of us, as women.
I recommend this book for all women who wish to look closer at the whole of themselves, and to all women in general who have never even given their full selves a second thought.
The joy is is getting to know ourselves deeply, enriching who we are at our core and Ms. Pearce has offered us another way for us to do just that.
I, for one, can’t wait to delve in some more.
