The sound of the drum beat softly as I read Faye Johnstone’s Shamanic Reiki Drumming; Intuitive Healing with Sound and Vibration. It’s the first book I’ve read with my drum by my side, periodically drumming and reading as I ventured along the veil of words and worlds. I loved every minute of it. Faye provides extensive materials for beginners as well as the validation and support needed for practitioners in the wide field of healing arts. This book will obviously draw readers who are connected with Shamanism and Reiki energy healing, however the practices and protocols could be adopted and adapted to fit many people interested in self-inquiry and facilitating groups or support spaces for others. There is a wealth of wisdom shared within this compact and easy to digest book. Faye Johnstone has over twenty years of experience as a Reiki Master and it shows in her overflowing generosity of suggestions and outlines to help anyone regardless of their expertise in exploring the healing powers of the drum. She leaves much room for personal exploration, trusting the reader will grow in their relationship with their practice, ultimately having their own experiences through the presence of their own unique Divine connection and integration.

In Shamanic Reiki Drumming, Faye Johnstone covers extensively the fears, inhibitions, and questions new practitioners or students may have regarding Reiki and Shamanism. She includes some scientific studies about the healing powers of both, and covers thoroughly guidelines and protocols to ensure safety, integrity, and compassion is at the forefront of all healing sessions. I first met Faye Johnstone on an online platform, a community garden council where she and I sat on the board with ten other women, mostly herbalists and spiritual seekers back in 2020. I was overjoyed when, as synchronicity should have it, I saw her name on the list of authors on paganpagesorg. I immediately requested the privilege of reviewing her latest book, Shamanic Reiki Drumming; Intuitive Healing with Sound and Vibration. Faye Johnstone is an Herbalist, author, and practitioner of Reiki and Shamanism. From Nova Scotia to Scotland she has developed and shared her love and devotion of nature and personal transformation far and wide, having written and published three books up to date.

Shamanic Reiki Drumming is a Calling to dive deeper into the mysteries, embody more of our authenticity and power, find, activate and express our true voice, and step into collaborative reciprocity as an Earthling with all of Nature and Spirit. She states, “Each of us have a part to play, a voice that needs to sing and a rhythm to dance and weave.
