    MoonOwl Observations

Fortuna                 Fortuna is a Roman goddess of luck, fortune, prosperity and fate who was at one time very popular.  With Greek influence, Fortuna became Tykhe and was also a very popular deity there.  She was even popular in Italy and she had more temples than any other God in that time.  She was always afforded the most luxurious kinds of worship since people hoped it would bring them good fortune. She is usually depicted holding a cornucopia in one hand, and a ship’s rudder in the other.  Sometimes she is blindfolded or veiled and most of the time she is standing on or near a globe or wheel.  The…

    Interweavings

September and Squirrel Nutkin   At long last Mother Earth is balancing and the slow move toward the winter months begin.  I watch as the squirrels and chipmunks in my yard are gathering acorns and other nuts and hurrying away. The last of the hummingbirds are visiting the bird feeders getting fatter and fatter in anticipation of the long flight further south.   Self Discipline and Self Reliance are the virtues for this month and little Squirrel Nutkin is the perfect example of both of those ideas.   Having the discipline to prepare for our own needs in order to be self-reliant is something sorely lacking in our society these…

The Jealous Girlfriend   “A jealous girlfriend is a faithful girlfriend. If she doesn’t get jealous when someone has your attention it’s because someone has hers. “     This was a status message that I read a few weeks ago on facebook. Surprised? Facebook seems to have a lot of these random pieces of ‘wisdom’. I use the word wisdom in quotations because while others may view this message as such, I do not.  Wonder why? Well, let me explain why I do NOT in any way view these words as wisdom.   First, I want to explore the definition of the word jealous. Jealous means an intolerance or…

    The Mugwort Chronicles

Ahhh….Sweet Grass….   I have such wonderful memories of the last time I attended the NW Herb Fest in Eugene, Oregon. It was during a rather hot weekend in July 2010, sadly, the last time the NW Herb Fest was held. Walking from the parking area in the fields, the air was heavy with the wonderful vanilla scent of Sweet Grass.   At the time, I didn’t know which plant was responsible for that amazing smell and it wasn’t until I purchased a braid of Sweet Grass at one of the vendor’s tables that I figured it out. That lovely braid remained fragrant for a very long time, reminding me…

    Hally’s Hints

Energetic Balance Within Energy is fundamental to each and everyone one of us. Some believe there is but one type which can be manipulated and converted and others believe that the energy within us is derived from a central location and through different reasons becomes segregated, disjointed, separated and exists within pockets, usually within the vicinity of a chakra and over years can create behaviour that is aligned to this segregation of energy. After comprehensive research, experimentation and many hours exploring the affects of energy, its uses and how far energy can be used it has become evident and extremely clear that the energy within the human body that is…
