She Who is All – The Goddess of Ten Thousand Names

Nabia/Navia     The Goddess Nabia, also known as Navia, is a Goddess of many functions. She comes to us from ancient Lusitania on the Iberian Peninsula, on what is now Portugal. Her main function seems to be as a Goddess of waters, rivers and fountains, however, She is also worshiped in forested areas. It is possible Her name comes from the Sanskrit word, “navya”, which means water course. Also, the Portuguese name for ship is “navio”. Numerous rivers still have the name, as the River Navia in Northern Portugal. There have been at least 20 inscriptions dedicated to her throughout Western Iberia, which is Portugal and western Spain. Many…

Comparing 6s & Judgement   (image: The Rider-Waite tarot deck)   Many Tarot cards can seem similar enough to each other that interpreting them when they both show up in a spread can be challenging. Beginning last month, we started using a new method to understand the cards: comparison. This month we will compare a Minor Arcana card, the 6 of Swords, with a Major Arcana card, Judgement. We will explore similarities between these two cards, and then we will look at the differences. I will be using card images from the Rider Tarot Deck for this analysis. First, the similarities. The basic messages or interpretations of these two cards…

“Self-Love Ritual for When You Don’t Get It Right the First Time” An Excerpt from The Junior Witch’s Handbook by Nikki Van De Car

Fulfillment will never be achieved without some failure along the way. If it were easy, it wouldn’t be all that fulfilling, would it? Failure is an integral part of the process of reaching satisfaction and happiness. That doesn’t mean it’s a pleasant experience. Whenever we fail at something—and particularly when it’s something we really want to be good at—it hurts. We feel all kinds of emotions, and may decide that this failure along our journey means that we’re not good at this, that we’re never going to be good at this, and, sometimes, that’s there’s something wrong with us because we weren’t successful this time. Sometimes it helps to…

    Witch & Popcorn

Indian Horse   Years ago, I was a tour guide at a place called The Olentangy Indian Caverns in Delaware, Ohio. It’s a small cavern, and so the tour script had to be good. We could not just take people on a LONG walk underground for an hour. You can walk the whole thing is five minutes- not counting the breathless climb back to the top! After being hired, the first thing we were given was our employee handbook, and tour script. We could not give tours until we demonstrated to a staff person we knew that script. I realized, after doing this for a few Summers on my…
