The Business of Tarot Last year I had an experience with an individual who was highly upset with the fact that I read Tarot for profit and “personal gain”. This woman accused me of “commercializing what she held as sacred and that I was selling the religion of Wicca and spiritual practices as a business.” After recovering from the hurt and shock I experienced at the allegation, I contemplated what my own views were in regards to my business. This is what I discovered: I view Tarot as a sacred tool for divination. I use the cards to tap into Divine Source in order to attain knowledge and retrieve messages…

My Experience With Fasting I have been incorporating fasting in my spiritual life with great success. Historically it has been utilized for thousands of years. Hippocrates, Socrates, and Plato all recommended fasting for health benefits while Moses, Jesus and Mahatma Gandhi fasted for spiritual growth, which was what I was looking to gain from my own experiences with fasting. I did not view my fast as a means of dieting nor did I view it as self-punishment for “sinful” or “bad behavior” instead I was using it as a means to heighten my own connection with deity. During this period I abstained from food but still consumed fluids to satisfy…

Ascension and Expectations Humanity is going through a spiritual evolution. An ascension. And now is the time that we should be releasing negativity, forgiving others as well as ourselves and healing from hurts from our past. It is a time to contemplate where we are and where we are headed individually and as humankind or kind humans (as a friend of mine often says). It is a time for all of us to “walk the talk” but lately I find myself disappointed by those whom I am surrounded by. It appears that they are more hypocritical than I once believed. This disappointments me and forces me to take a closer…

Raising Wiccans It is my belief that children need to be taught spirituality and which path is taught is generally the path that the parents follow. If you follow a Wiccan path then teaching Wicca to your children is appropriate, if you follow a Christian path then teaching your children Christianity is appropriate. Does this mean that other religions or spiritual paths should be ignored? No. What it means is – you raise your children with the idea that there is a Divine Source from which all things flow; that there is something that connects all living beings. As that child matures you may then open the door to other…

It’s All A Matter of Respect The definition of the word respect from The Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is “to give special attention or special worth to something”. And from the same dictionary, to label something wrong would be to believe that it is “incorrect, immoral and unethical”. So my question for you is, could you believe that something is incorrect, immoral and unethical but still respect it? Is that concept even possible when we look at the definition of the two words, respect and wrong? After considering this question I came to the conclusion that an individual could accept that something exists but still believe that it is wrong however, could that same…

The Myth of Hell Being raised by Roman Catholic parents who attend Church every Sunday it should hold no doubt that I was taught about Hell and Satan. I also attended a parochial high school and then studied the Catechism as an adult. During all the studying I was continuously being reminded that Satan was ‘the great tempter‘ and Hell was where I was bound to go if I committed mortal sins. Even when I converted to the Methodist Church I still carried the beliefs of Satan and Hell with me though something just didn’t ‘feel right‘ about it. It wasn’t until I started a Bible Study with one of…

It Is Just An Illusion Reality is an illusion. Do you agree? All that you see and experience here on earth are simply projections of what you want, believe or expect them to be. It is all perception and perception is subjective. What I deem as reality may or may not be yours. Our realities or perceptions are based on what we experience through our interactions with people we come in contact with, our environment and situations that we’ve had as we expanded on this plane of existence this time around. There is no one absolute truth (though many religions will try and convince you as such). Many claim that…

It Doesn’t Have To be That Way I was on facebook today and I happened to read a status message from a fellow witch that spoke about not believing in white light and rainbows but in facing life’s battles with sword in hand. It mentioned how it would be nice to have a positive outlook on everything but that the reality is that not everything is positive and not everything should be met with positivity. The message made me pause with a frown and I proceeded to politely disagree. I do believe that there is light and dark in life and I do believe that there is a contrast that…

Spirituality Or Religion? What is the difference between spirituality and religion? Is there a difference or are the terms interchangeable? Why do some people claim to be religious while others call themselves spiritual? Am I spiritual or religious? What defines these terms and really how can you tell which is which? Are all pagans spiritual and all Judeo/Christians religious? These are the questions that I pondered and wanted to find some answers to. I asked friends, co-works, online buddies, family as well as my husband. After many discussions I found that people had a different opinion depending on where he/she was on their own life path and what spiritual beliefs…

The Spectrum of Love and Connection to Divine Prior to being born to our mother into the shell we call our body we existed in our True form or Spirit form on the spiritual plane (Heaven). There we existed with and within the Divine (God/dess). When our physical body dies we will pass through the Veil and back to spiritual plane in order to transition to our next experience. Our Higher Self or Spirit never ceases to exist. We are both; yin and yang, dark and light, night and day, Goddess and God, female and male. In essence we are neither female nor male – we are both. It is…
