The Little Book of Moon Magic is a cute, beautifully designed and illustrated hardback book on the Moon, its formation, phases, and how to work magic with all of that information! In short, this is a primer for beginners looking to work with the moon in their magic more. Covering multiple cultures, mythologies and traditions, anyone and everyone is sure to find gems of wisdom within its pages. Herbal teas, spells, meditations and other thoughtful exercises to use in correlation with certain moon phases are given as well, for varying intentions from release, attracting love, deepening love, and more!
I chose this book for fun, and found it to be quite an entertaining, albeit short, read; as I stated before, the design is gorgeous, which makes it all the more appealing for many. I enjoyed learning the scientific and mythical bits of lunar lore without it being overly wordy, or complicated. The exercises, journaling, spells, meditations and such are also succinct, but effective, and allow the reader to immerse themselves in their own lunar world of magic. All in all, without giving away too much, this was a fun (and cute) read and despite it being tailored more for beginners.
I do, however, have some critiques for this book; first, the designs & illustrations on the pages at times make it a bit difficult to read the text. A small critique, for sure, but for those like myself who struggle with light sensitivity or other eye issues, this could be an issue, as it’s harder to discern the words. That said, the font size is comfortable for most to read, and is Times New Roman-esque, so will be easily understandable. All in all, I give it a 3/5 pentagram rating. The designs/illustrations on the pages were just a little too much at some points for me, despite their beauty. Also, I feel there was some “fluff” added to fill out space, so to speak; some of the information felt repeated from other similar books (repeated, not plagiarized). Good for beginners, but lacking depth for those looking for more information than the “101”. These are the reasons for my 3/5 Pentagram rating.
